A realization I made a little while back: Japan is starting to change me. I picked up the style of dress after 7 or 8 months of being here (wearing tunic shirts, layering clothes, etc), but I only recently started caring about looking nice (buying nice shoes, leggings, cute hats, makeup). And it kinda scares me. I never cared about being fashionable before, but dressing standards are much higher in Japan and I feel very much pressured to fit in.So yes. This realization was made during the purchase of the third hat I own (two of which I've bought here). And as much as I like looking pretty, there's a small part of me (the nerdy, tomboy side) that feels sick ^_^;;; Hopefully I'll come to terms with it. Until then... I HAVE BETRAYED MY NERDINESSS ^_^;;;;;

It's ok, I feel your pain. My friend and I just realised during a conversation the other day that we've become TYPICAL teenage girls. And we hate it. We wailed for about 10 minutes, we were like "What has HAPPENED?!" Lol

I realized the same thing when I first went to Japan. And Japanese style is so different from the Spanish one! I was looking for a pair of new trousers now and I don't like any of them. I started thinking I may buy leggings and skirts or dresses, WTH is with me?

That happened to me when I was dared to "dress like a real girl" for a month as part of a bet...Eventually, I started doing it without realizing... -w-; Hey, you're still a nerd. You're just a hot nerd. ;D Japanese fashion is pretty amazing anyways, and it's not so much sex-appeal based like it is here (just higher standards, right?)... So, work it, baby!!!

Haha I found that out from being in England! Just 2 months in I had already adopted the fashion and changed half my wardrobe XD but the Japanese fashion is awesome! so don't be too scared ;D

They come in cm, which is a lot easier than the dumb sizes in the US ^_^ I'm a 67cm out here, 70 if I want them to be loose. ^_^ Big sizes here are 73-78 ^_^

It's okay, it makes a lot of sense and as long as you act like yourself, the clothes you wear don't really matter, see I could wear the most fashionable clothes but still run around and get dirty or act unlady like like I always do and suddenly people don't see the clothes, they see me being stupid and childish. Its the same thing the other way around, so don't worry, just be yourself and everything will be A-OK!

It's really quite terrifying! I also wonder that when I watch things like project runway and have opinions on the fashion. Usually I excuse it away by saying "but I love watching them turn bits of stuff into clothes!" but now that I'm actually dressing up, I'm a little scared ^_^;;;
