A realization I made a little while back: Japan is starting to change me. I picked up the style of dress after 7 or 8 months of being here (wearing tunic shirts, layering clothes, etc), but I only recently started caring about looking nice (buying nice shoes, leggings, cute hats, makeup). And it kinda scares me. I never cared about being fashionable before, but dressing standards are much higher in Japan and I feel very much pressured to fit in.So yes. This realization was made during the purchase of the third hat I own (two of which I've bought here). And as much as I like looking pretty, there's a small part of me (the nerdy, tomboy side) that feels sick ^_^;;; Hopefully I'll come to terms with it. Until then... I HAVE BETRAYED MY NERDINESSS ^_^;;;;;

Haha, I don't know. I've always been pretty obsessed with fashion, hair, makeup, and the like, and at the same time I can confidently say I am a part of the nerd-dom.

Yeah, I'm slowly realizing this. But I've always had a pretty low opinion of my prettiness, so there never seemed any point to dressing up. But now, I have a better opinion of myself and then there's Japan being SO FREAKING STYLISH that's getting me going ^_^

That happened to me last semester just from hanging out with the exchange students from Japan! XD We would go shopping and stuff together, and then I went home for Christmas and it was like... WHAT AM I DOING?!
I do love the fashion (well, most of it) in Japan, but my tomboy self refuses to go down without a fight.

It's happened to me. It doesn't hurt to think like that honestly. I say as long as you have control of your money then be fashionable! And I don't think it's betraying nerdiness, I think it's more like giving nerds a cooler name

ehehehe, it still feels a bit wrong. BUT at least I'll get more hilarious reactions when I go into a video game or comic store and start browsing in the US. I already got looks (OH GOD WHY IS THERE A GIRL HERE) but now it'll be a (OH GOD A STYLISH GIRL WHAT IS SHE DOING HERE I AM SO CONFUSED)

That happened to me when I was working at this department store. All the girls dressed so nicely that I wanted to as well, so I started wearing make-up and wearing cute shirts. I like it, but my slobby nerd inside is so ashamed of me xD!

heheheh, yeah, it's just still a really weird feeling for me to actually care what I look like ^_^;;; (I think the tomboy aspect of me isn't helping the transition too ^___^ ). But thank you for the kind words! I'll tell my screaming nerd side that it can be nerdy AND fashionable ^___^

The other day, I saw this orangey-blush make-up at the store, and there was a sample and I tried it out.
OMG
It made my face look like a DOLL'S FACE
I looked like one of those women that where those blue uniforms who sit at those information booths at department stores all day and just look like mannikins. AAAHHH SO CUTE

Whoa!! I really want to get some converse shoes b/c they're totally the rage here and sneakers aren't so popular, Plus, the'll go with my leggings and my leg warmers. I also want more awesome boots. And more cute shirts. ARRRGGGG T_T
