Description
Here's the latest commission piece! This time my patron asked me to come up with a logo for a hypothetical adaption of Kyuranger by Hasbro which he decided to call "Star Defenders". So I recreated the Hasbro Power Rangers logo (a lot more complicated than I thought) and then created the "sub logo" under it. I also added the design in the back and reused a modified version of my elecrical effect from my old school Power Rangers logo.Overall, it came out pretty good I think.
If you like this design, it's available on my store fronts here:

That's not a bad title. I thought of Constellation Stars or Star Changers, but this is good, too.

If Kyuranger does come to America, I'd love to see Champ as the black ranger again. I thought his character was so cool. Never imagined a robot bull to be a badass ranger.

It certainly would be cool to see them use the robot suits for him and the gold ranger, or even come up with their own based on the idea. There's a lot of interesting ideas in Kyuranger and I'm just sorry I haven't had a chance to actually FINISH that darn series.

Nice concept. Though, if Beast Morphers starts a trend like the "_____ Force" trend, then the adaption will be called Power Rangers Star Morphers.

I really don't want that to be a trend. It'd be just as sickeningly uninspired as "Power Rangers Super _____"

As far as I can remember, the whole "Super _____" naming trend was because of Nickelodeon. The network was forcing the show to stop airing mid-season and then rebrand itself after the hiatus. No one wanted to do that, they wanted to just release the episodes consecutively until the end of the series, but they had no choice.

Did Nickelodeon honestly restrict them from any other word than Super? Did they seriously not allowed them to be creative in coming up with different names?

I don't think Nickelodeon imposed the word "Super" on them. I am guessing that Saban's creative staff came up with that word at the last second, and they never took a moment to think of a better word for any of the following seasons or they didn't want to make the name sound too different in case it might confuse viewers. But don't take my word for it. I'm just telling you everything I know second hand. Maybe there is an interview or something out there that will explain it better than I can.

When they first started this gimmick with Samurai, It was already consistent with everything else copied and re-enacted from Shinkenger. Because the black box power-up used by any Shinkenger becomes a "Super Shinkenger." Hence the title "Super Samurai" referring to a new Super powered-up ability used in that show's second season.
But then it started becoming all the more frustrating with Super Megaforce. Not only was it redundant of them to use "Super" again in the title (and for the Gokaiger suits), Season one of Megaforce already introduced Ultra Mode. It seemed like they had no clue that the word Ultra is traditionally regarded to mean more powerful than Super by definition. (Unless if they were originally intent on Ultra Megaforce as season two for adapting the second half of Goseiger. Before Gokaiger was contractually forced upon them.)
Then eventually those "Super" second season titles stopped having any consistent relevance within context. For Samurai and Megaforce, it's clearly referring to new power-ups that change up the costumes in battle. But when the Dino Charge and Ninja Steel Rangers start referring to themselves as Dino Supercharge and Super Ninja Steel Rangers, their appearances stay the same as before. Nothing's changed. Sure, both teams wear "Super Named" versions of their armored suits inside the Megazord cockpits. But they ONLY ever use them inside the Megazord cockpits; so announcing themselves during roll call as "Super" is completely arbitrary and bears no relevance during those seasons in both shows.

I try to avoid hierarchies when it comes to words like Mega, Super, Ultra, etc. Even in the 90's, there were times where Tokusatsu adaptions and similar shows would misuse the words. Basically, while they usually do have a hierarchy of greatness, there are times when people use them as just a collection of synonyms. I don't like it when people do that, but I've learned to shrug and let it go, otherwise I'd be pulling my hair out and getting annoyed at people who honestly don't care or are too ignorant to care.
Also, I think the original Megazord cockpits and suits are kind of annoying. When they don't leave the Megazords with those armored suits, then they really contribute nothing. Making new footage might give you more control over what the characters are doing, but that doesn't matter when most of the American footage matches the Japanese footage scene-for-scene anyways. And yes, I know because people have put comparison videos on YouTube. Really, only in select seasons, it makes sense to reshoot the cockpit footage. Otherwise, it'd be perfectly fine to recycle the Japanese footage and maybe do some extra editing magic for the moments where the show is doing something different than the Japanese show. It's what they use to in the past.

I think a big reason why the inconsistent word hierarchy irritated me was because of how past seasons used "Ultra" whenever there was an Ultrazord involved. It became thematic for every season that the most powerful version of a Megazord is an Ultrazord. So it just became another one out of many things Tzachor and company did not care about in the slightest about when making "Super Megaforce" especially in regards to honoring traditions that came from previous seasons. (Hence why the Morphing Grid – a core part of the entire franchise's mythos – is never spoken by anyone. Not even once.)
I'm honestly grateful that we were given new cockpits for Dino Charge and Ninja Steel. For Dino Charge, I like the simplicity of each Megazord having the corresponding Dinosaur head on the wall; and I really like seeing all those Dinosaur heads together in the Ultrazord cockpit. And I actually prefer Ninja Steel's cockpit over Ninninger. While I get that the throne in the cockpit matches the throne on the Megazord chest, I never really cared for the throne sitting higher above the other Rangers because that's not what team work is about. So I consider it an improvement, even if that's not really saying much regarding the series of Ninja Steel as a whole.

Yeah, I've heard about just how badly Super MegaForce was handled, both within the show and behind the scenes.
The Gokaiger adaption really should have been its own thing.
Maybe merging Goseiger and Gokaiger is kind of a nod to how DaiRanger and KakuRanger were adapted, but I doubt it was on purpose.
I was thinking more along the lines of text, cultural stuff, and other things. Shinkenger ended their giant robot battles with a victory clap, and I'm pretty sure they removed that in the Power Rangers version. Power Rangers Samurai really wanted to blur and blend cultures together while still being a very standard Power Rangers season, which I think was the wrong way to go for something that is very rooted in Japanese history. They haven't adapted ToQger yet, but in the cockpit, there is an electronic sign that has scrolling Japanese text. It'd be too tedious to edit that out, so maybe original cockpit footage would be better.

It was more of a contractual obligation to adapt Gokaiger close enough in time to Power Ranger's 20th anniversary and not an adaptation homage. Even if it was an homage, it's still an outdated method of adapting tokusatsu that started as an experiment that was not expected to last more than a year. Time changes in twenty years and so does technology. Plus there's more to the original Mighty Morphin series than just stock footage alone. Without a good story raising the stakes to necessitate the need to introduce Zords, Ranger suits, and weapons from other Sentai; then there's tension for the characters to face and no reason for the audience to care.
Re-enacting and watering down the Japanese culture rooted plot of Shinkenger in the pseudo American setting of Power Rangers Samurai was most definitely the wrong way. As soon as I watched Shinkenger immediately after Samurai first premiered, I figured out precisely what they were doing and that it was going to turn out miserably.
It isn't very likely at all that Hasbro will have any interest in ToQger for a very long time. A new Megazord cockpit in theory would probably make more sense in a hypothetical adaptation.

I'm aware of Mighty Morphin the most. I grew up with it as a kid. Also saw Alien Rangers, Zeo, and Turbo. Stopped watching after the finale of In Space, when the Zordon Era ended. It wasn't until the early 2000's that I learned about and started investigating into Super Sentai. And all that is true, but there was an even bigger reason why they tried to merge all those seasons into one continuous continuity.
I'm still not sure why the fandom thought the return of Saban was actually going to be a GOOD thing. As far as I could tell, the Disney seasons really weren't that bad. I mean, for goodness sake, Saban was the company responsible for Masked Rider, Beetleborgs, and VR Troopers. How was this suppose to be a guaranteed good thing?
You never know! People thought Go-Busters wouldn't get adapted since Saban skipped it, and yet here we are.

Well for me, I truly believed Saban's company from the 90's would remain a thing of the past and that it would never return ever again. So I was full and ready to accept the thought the Power Rangers was over after RPM. The moment the announcement came that Saban bought Power Rangers back, I was genuinely surprised. I didn't think they would still have any interest in the franchise again let alone have the resources to make new seasons. Because it was such a surprise to me, I stayed optimistic that they would learn from past mistakes (as well as those other shows you've mentioned that have become dated) and improve upon creating a quality product with new technology available. But while visually superior in picture quality; as Disney never bothered to switch to High Definition, everything else was just an embarrassing regression of everything that's happened in the seasons of the past seven years. Time has evolved since 1993, but Saban Brands was stuck in the past. To this very day, Dino Charge is the only show in the Saban Brand era that had genuine heart and effort put into it despite having come to an absurdly frustrating conclusion. Largely thanks to the return of past producer Judd "Chip" Lynn.

Yeah, Judd Lynn does great work, easily a writing asset.
But oh! OH! Don't even get me started on what Disney did to the screen resolution. I am videophile, and I CRINGE every time I see them squish a widescreen video to fullscreen. Most probably wouldn't catch it, but I can tell when the Megazord looks extra tall and extra thin. I still wonder who the moron was that insisted that high def Sentai seasons be reformatted to standard def. Were they really that hard pressed to find new equipment to help them film in HD?

Perhaps there was more of a commonality to find affordable HD movie cameras in 2011 than there was in 2009. Can't say for sure though. Power Rangers as a property was clearly more of an afterthought to Disney instead of a big name brand that they cared about.

True. At one point, the production team needed help making a season, and the higher-ups at Disney told them to "just dub the Sentai". Can you imagine that?
