Description
this was for a project for work that was canceled.First time doing a monster creature, but looking at it now, it could have been more original. Its basically a monster scorpion with an extending hidden opera mask face... with teeth.
i think i did a pretty good job while keeping it pretty low poly (2000 was my limit so...)
if i figure out how, i'll put up the animations later

I, I did do this for my current job (though it was never used), and its a pretty good job, but its not a game company, so I dont get to make cool stuff often

Sometimes if you do something compleatly unorigional but do it well it looks origional anyway. With the head out it looks origional. Otherwise I think I've seen that same scorpion before. No ofence.

The project was supposed to be a game demo (but the project died before it ever lived) and good guess, this was supposed to be the boss monster. I was given the task of creating it, but i dont think my boss liked it ;_;

Looks very nice, definitely follows the concept. Good polygon use as well as the shading on the texture... o.

Good stuff. It still freaks me out. You should definitely try to get the animations up. They turned out really great

the mask makes it look less intimidating D;
and uh... i always imagined a manticore as a scorpion-tailed mantis-bear. i dunno why.
looking at the concepts on the background... maybe you could give it a humanoid like torso with a long neck?

I don't know if someone already mentioned this, but the stances are very well researched it feels. Did you do research right before drawing or was it from the collective experience you've had over the years?

i did do some research. i looked up scorpion videos on the BBC website to see how they moved, since i had to animate them walking. everything else was just done so that it looked cool XD

but that is one monster i d rather never see...
