I don't see what the problem is. Favs are nice, except when you see that the person is just a spammer who faves everything. There's no need to comment if it's just to say "I like it" - the fav says that.

I actually prefer when people just fav my work. Out of however many watchers I have, only three or four leave intelligent, or helpful feedback. There's nothing I hat more than to see 100+ messages and they all say basically the same thing.ย

Busy, huh? So that means you have time to loiter around on dA and look at stuff, but you're just soooooo busy that you can't just leave a short, sweet comment about what you like? I don't buy it.
Sure, a fave can sometimes mean something at least, but a comment will always be more meaningful: [link]

Thank you so much for making this Stamp, it is just straight to the point! It's sad when you see a really wonderful piece, but the Artist that made it brakes in your face the "Comment before you fav please!!!!" Not only that some of us might not have the time as mentioned above in some comments but also sometimes you just don't have the proper words right there; so instead of commenting a "Awesome!" you preffer to wait for a better time when you have the inspiration for a more thoughtful comment people SHOULD take this in consideration. A Fav really is a compliment, it shows you liked someone's work, appreciate it, and also support it by displaying it in your Faves, for even more people to discover it.

And the fact that some demand Critique, well, for all I know, when you know people would have something to Critique on what you did then this means you are already aware of what you did wrong without one or more people telling you that; the best Critique is the one you self-provide and your determination to improve.
So in the ending... thank you once again!

yeah i agree... if you really think about it, faves mean people like your artwork. i know i'd rather have a bunch of faves than a bunch of comments telling me my art sucks or something.

A nice stamp, I don't mind when people do it either. Whether friends, watchers, or random deviants. It shows they liked it enough to have it in their favs, that's enough for me. Comments are nice too but I appreciate both both together and separate.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 0

Icey-chan [2009-05-14 06:45:34 +0000 UTC]

I agree. : P I mean, I can understand some people who really want to improve would like some critics to comment about how they can improve, but honestly? Getting so relied up about how someone faved but didn't comment is ridiculous. Heck, maybe they faved because they had to go but wanted to look at your work later. I've done that.

And anyway, comment or not, it is free publicity. I can't stress how many drop-dead gorgeous pieces I've found in someone else's favorites that I would never have discovered on my own. I've even found awesome artists that way. So think of it as advertising, plus someone silently expressing, "I loved your piece!". :3

I appreciate comments, but a is just as good.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

TricksyPicksy In reply to Icey-chan [2009-05-20 12:18:10 +0000 UTC]

Exactly. Some people are so busy online that if they commented everything they wouldn't have time to find so many other beautiful things.

I often comment pieces that strike me close to home. But, especially when a deviant seems to be one overwhelmed by messages anyway, I just like to fav and be on my way. If they seem particularly militant about the issue I will neither fav nor comment a wonderful piece. Sad, but there it is.

Oh well, to each his own. I'm chill.

SparkyTK [2008-01-31 06:04:08 +0000 UTC]

It's silly that people get angry about having faves and no comments. A fave is a compliment after all, no? I guess some people are just spoiled, though.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

TricksyPicksy In reply to SparkyTK [2008-01-31 10:19:10 +0000 UTC]

Agreed. There are days when I have extra time to comment, and there are days I do not. I still have pieces I'd like to fave. Maybe some think not commenting is not acknowledging their hard work, but in my opinion the is the better acknowledgment. Hence the stamp! If people's pages indicate that they'd rather I not fave unless I comment, I almost always feel obligated to pass that piece by.

And thanks for the fave! And comment!
