Description
Finally coloured it.
I wanted to colour one of the pics I had sitting on my desktop, and chose this one. There's plenty of others I need to colour, and I'll get around to those too.
Didn't quite turn out like I had in mind, but at the same time I've done more than I planned... So... That's still a good feeling.
I traced over the floating island from Sonic & Knuckles in case you're wondering.

Hey, yeah, I did make this a while back, using Adobe Photoshop (version CS5, but any version would achieve this).
Photoshop's fairly expensive, so if you can't get your hands on it there is a free program you could get called Gimp. There should be a fair few tutorials on Deviant Art for that, as well as Photoshop. So if you search Deviant Art for "photoshop colouring tutorial" or "gimp colouring tutorial" it should come up with some pretty straight forward tutorials on how it's done.
I basically just drew the lines on paper, scanned it onto my computer, opened it up in Photoshop, changed the layer settings to "multiply" so that makes the layer the lines are on transparent in a way, so that everything I colour on layers I make underneath stay under the lines. I made layers under my lines with the flat base colours of everything, then on layers that I grouped to the base layers I used a round brush set to 30 opacity or so to shade a darker colour, then another layer for highlights on top of that one (also grouped to the base colour).
Also probably check YouTube for some digital colouring tutorials. Might be easier if you watch what people do as well.
