There's so many different versions of this... I couldn't decide what I wanted... Like I keep switching files to upload right now.
Maybe I'll change it tomorrow completely.

No. Because his face doesn't look like Jack. Jack and David are not identical. The only clone identical to Jack was George and the one identical to David was Eli.

Hell, in MGS4, even if Jack kept a mullet, you can tell them apart easily.

Yeah, I've always been aware they have slightly different facial features, since Big Boss has defined lines on his cheeks in particular (which in this really old drawing, I did try to do). The only time Solid Snake ever had them was in Smash Bros Melee, since they obviously just used Naked Snake's model from MGS3 to work off.
Any way, my intention was trying to draw Big Boss. I was also not very good at drawing men 9 years ago.

Jack also has more weight on him. In the last MGS V trailer it shows that MGS3 Jack was lighter than when he had the title of Big Boss.

Well, in MGS3 Jack was quite a long younger too. From memory he was in his late 20's then (28, 29? Something like that). So yeah, he woulda beefed up a bit after that, surely. And he always looked like he had a lot more muscle mass than David ever did. David was muscular, but still more slimly built.

Well, to be fair that's not even Naked Snake in MGSV, soooo.... But in any case, I'm comparing Solid to Naked. Not saying Big Boss is a muscle builder or anything. Just a different build to Solid.

Well... I mean... I do have one of Big Boss with a tuxedo on, but he's not wearing an eye patch.. xD I was going to put one on him though.

Yah. Big Boss is the central character of the Metal Gear Solid series. BTW, I love how he's a mix of Big Boss from MGS4 and Big Boss from MPO, as I've always thought that it would be cool to see just how they got him unconscious enough to clone. BTW, anyone else notice that Snake's civilian disguise in MGS4 is just like Big Boss's coat? If you take off facecamo with it on, how much does it look like Old Big Boss?

Nice, say, 2 questions. One is this blurred, as it has a REALLY soft feeling to it. I like it. And second, this is penciled right? How you get the lines so CLEAN?

From memory, there is a blurred copy of the image on a layer above, which the layer is set to Hard Light, or something similar. 
As for the line art, I drew it with my drawing tablet on the computer in a program called Painter IX, which I also coloured it in.
I don't often get very "clean" lines on the computer, so I usually just sketch it out first, then clean it up a little with the eraser tool as I go along.
I much prefer doing line art on paper with pen, since it's much smoother and easier. xD

I had a feeling a layer was blurred. I do that to my lineart before coloring it too. I like the effect. And I think I learned something too. what % do you use for coloring and what tools? If I can ask... I know asking how an artist does something is like asking the SS what guns they use. >>; Am I making any sense?

hehe Yeah, I don't mind. I think it was just a chalk tool at 100%. Though depending on how hard you press with the pen it does fade off.
I don't often colour my stuff in Painter. I usually only do if I started the drawing in Painter. I usually colour stuff in Photoshop.

Thats better then what I do. It's all point and click for me. The sad part is I have Photoshop. You think i would be more advance in how to work it.... NOPE. XD The touch pad on my laptop is all I use. I feel so lowtech.

Don't be jealous. xD I've still got heaps to improve on though. Like I lack the ability to do decent backgrounds... Since I never practice them, I'm not going to get better at them. D= I should get around to that someday soon.
I used to use mouse... Very slow compared to drawing tablet. x_x But it was fun to use the polygonal lasso to colour.

Backgrounds are hard stuffs. I have a problem with them as well.. and the sad thing... I'm a comic artist. But there's ways around it to be honest. I look at photos and stuff in real life to help that out. It's easy once you find what works. I think you'll be fine,your work is kickass. And the Lasso is fun... when your computer lets it be. * looking at mine laptop. it likes to reload everything. >>
