This pretty much sums up my reaction to Gen 5 in general. Initial distaste which inevitably gave way to UNDYING AFFECTION. I don't know what kind of voodoo rituals go into the creation of new Pokemon, but they must be some potent shit.Related content

Anyway. How could anyone NOT love Tympole? Its design is genius... So hilariously musical. I love how it quickly became a meme, at least in pixiv.

No, actually I based his outfit on the gen 2/3 fisherman sprite. Though admittedly he isn't quite so portly as they are.

I quite agree...XDĀ I hated nearly every Gen V Pokemon to begin with (with a few exceptions) and then grew to love or be okay with most of them.Ā That doesn't normally happen... Pokemon I dislike at first tend to keep that tag of being disliked.Ā
It's all the more amazing considering I really did NOT like the storyline of B/W/B2/W2. XD

That was my reaction to Tympole as well. "It looks like someone ripped off a kid's head and stuck a tail on it...how ugly...I'll name you Noggin." *Noggin proceeds with me all the way to the Elite 4*
Trubbish and I were much the same way, but that looks of total derp on its face won me over. I love him so much.

I have no idea why so many people hate 5th gen Pokemon. A lot of them, like Galvantula, Whimsicott, Ferrothorn, Rufflet, the whole Litwick's line, Dwebble, Cofagrigus, Dewott and Samurott, Zweilous (it's Doduo WITH DRAGONS!) - became instant favorites for me.
And they hate Garbodor because "The first generation was awesome, now it's sh*t". Muks all over the world think you're high, people, and so do I.

I have my problems with a few of the 5th gen designs, but then, I could say that about any generation. I can definitely second your sentiments on Cofagrigus, though. What a badass. Other 5th gen favorites of mine include Bisharp, Reuniclus, Krookodile and Escavalier.
Oh, and much love to Muk. Classic Pokemon.
