Description
"Perseverance" is a guided missile destroyer built in the 70s-80s. The full-load displacement is 6,800 tons and the total length is 155 meters. Compared with past models, more emphasis is placed on multi-role combat capabilities.
This type of warship will mainly play two roles in the expected high-intensity war: one is to be used as one of the regional air defense warships in the aircraft carrier battle group; the other is to serve as the flagship in the anti-submarine formation. Provides air defense protection for frigates without area air defense capabilities.
Air Combat Capabilities:
Area air defense capability is the highlight of the "Perseverance" class.
DBEG-73B "Beacon Tower" L-band radar (Figure 14) is used for early warning, and the effective detection range is 400 kilometers. The DBEG-80 "golf" radar (Figure 11) works in the S-band and is used to accurately locate air targets, and has a certain ability to detect sea-skimming targets.
The main anti-aircraft weapon is the "Skyline"-4 anti-aircraft missile (Figure 2), which is launched by a general-purpose dual-arm launcher (Figure 6), and generally has 32 bombs. This missile has an effective range of 120 kilometers and is a long-range air defense missile similar to the RIM-67 of the United States on Earth. The guidance mode of the "Skyline"-4 air defense missile is inertial guidance and semi-active irradiation composite guidance; two irradiators (Figure 10) are located above the bridge and in front of the hangar, and can provide 4 firepower through time-sharing irradiation aisle.
In terms of terminal defense capabilities, the ship also has a "screen window" system. The "screen window" system consists of a fire control radar (one on each side of the DBEG-80 "golf" radar base) and a near-anti-gun turret (Figure 7). The fire control radar corrects the trajectory based on the relative position of the fired shell and the target. The near-anti-aircraft turret is a 27mm rotary gun, each turret is equipped with 2,000 rounds of ammunition; the ammunition reserve is twice that of the "Phalanx" system on the earth, and more rounds of interception can be carried out.
In addition, the main gun also has certain anti-aircraft shooting capabilities.
Anti-submarine warfare capabilities:
Anti-submarine warfare is not a "Perseverance" class priority. However, as the flagship of the anti-submarine formation, its anti-submarine warfare capability is still considerable.
The "Perseverance" class has a standard bow sonar (Figure 1) and a towed sonar array (Figure 15). It can carry two medium anti-submarine helicopters.
The anti-submarine missile is the "Sea Sword" missile (Figure 3), which is also launched by the general-purpose dual-arm launcher (Figure 6), but the ammunition reserve is only 16 rounds. This is a long-range rocket-assisted torpedo with a range of 40 kilometers. Due to the common launcher with the "Skyline"-4 air defense missile, its firepower density cannot keep up with the box launcher.
Surface warfare capabilities:
The surface warfare capabilities of the "Perseverance" class are also strong. It is equipped with a "paper cup" over-the-horizon sea search/fire control radar (Figure 9), which can support it to attack enemy ships at a distance beyond sea level. In the absence of an aircraft carrier early warning aircraft, the anti-submarine helicopters of the "Perseverance" class itself can also relay guidance to anti-ship missiles. The anti-ship missile is an ASCM missile (Figure 4) with two quadruple box-type launchers (Figure 12); this missile is powered by a ramjet engine, with a range of 250 kilometers, a high-altitude ballistic trajectory, and a terminal speed three times the speed of sound. It is worth mentioning that in 1984, this missile was replaced with a low-altitude ballistic ASCM-B missile; the penetration capability was further enhanced. In addition, the "Perseverance" class also has a surface search radar on the mast (Figure 13) as a backup.
The main naval gun is a 130mm self-loading naval gun (Figure 5); the naval gun fire control radar (Figure 8) can be used to command the naval gun.
Propulsion: Combined gas turbine and gas turbine (COGAG) propulsion system. This is not conducive to anti-submarine warfare, but it is conducive to continuous high-speed navigation following the aircraft carrier strike group. The engines are four 16,000-horsepower gas turbines with a total output of 64,000 horsepower.
There are three batches of "Perseverance" class guided missile destroyer leaders. A total of two ships were built in the first batch.
AS Perseverance commissioned in 1979;
AS Persistent was commissioned in 1980.
