"Jack, what are you doing down there? Why aren't you dressed for the Fall Formal?""Because.....You said you didn't want to go to the dance with me."
"No, that's not what I said. If you recall, you specifically asked me if I wanted you to take me to the dance, and I said 'no' to that. I mean, that'd be ridiculous, you taking me anywhere in that silly little car yours..."
"So, you do want to go to the dance?"
"Pft. Obviously. Just go grab the best clothes you've got, you can change in my purse on the way...."
A follow up to an earlier picture: triffraff.deviantart.com/art/j…. Conceptually, a modern retelling of the story of Jack and Beanstalk. But instead of stealing the goose-that-lays-the-golden-eggs and chopping down the beanstalk, this retelling ends with Jack stealing the heart of the girl-with-the-golden-hair.....And basically, he ends up dating the giant's daughter. A happy ending in its own way....
...The real mystery is how the giant's daughter (Jill?) managed to climb down the beanstalk while wearing that dress...

You must have gotten lost in the wordplay. She wouldn't let him take her to the dance, because he physically can't take her in his car. But she will take him to the dance, because she is able to physically take him to the dance. Its okay, the whole joke was that he didn't get the wordplay either...

Actually, rumor has it that Disney is working on just that. From the 'Tangled' team. Little boy meets big girl...But, this being Disney, they probably won't be taking it in quite the same direction as my drawings go...

In a way, having Jack stealing the heart of the giant's daughter sounds better than him stealing the golden goose.
When one thinks about it, the actual Jack and the Beanstalk story is kinda messed up: a guy who sneaks into someone's house, steals something valuable and murders the owner is the hero of the story. OK so the owner was an evil man-eating giant, but still.

And yet the giant was only a threat because Jack had himself chosen to enter the giant castle in the sky. That he also chose to steal the giant's things was basically just asking for trouble.
