Some sketches I did on a bus trip recently. At present there exists both a rag-tag mercenary lancer squadron and a prestigious royal navy lancer squadron, and I intent to fill them out with a well rounded and diverse cast of obligatory fighter pilot cliches pilots at some point.

Given the lack of soldierly ladies my development of this setting so far, I felt this would be a good opportunity to start designing some. Also, having a military force that didn't have a gilded brass stick up its butt, and wasn't another Avanian frontier force, was a nice change of pace.

The one on the left is probably named Blanche, and she is a squadron leader and may or may not be the overall leader of the "White Knights" lancer squadron. Full blood Avanian, strong sense of duty, gained familiarity with piloting lancers as a child flying in the lap of her father who was himself a pilot when the ships saw more regular military use.

The one in the center and on the right doesn't have a name yet, but she's a hippogryph bad girl that somehow wound up piloting these things. She's not the most talented or experienced lancer pilot, but she pushes the limits of her machine with habitually reckless flying. She also probably has a brother or adopted brother in the squadron.

Yes, cut off shorts probably aren't the most practical thing to wear when flying. She'd wear regular cargo pants but fuck it, the merc distinction allows for more interesting costumes.
