Quick, sentimental drawing of father/son, husband/wife! This won’t tie into any of my other story pieces but I really want to play more with grass textures and greens... Color is still a struggle for me.

Catherine gripped at the reins, legs hugging the green stallion’s sides as she guided him out to the open fields. He was keyed up, excited to be back home and ready for action. She was concerned that his energy would turn into aggression if he felt confined to an arena.

So now, much to her husband’s annoyance, she had the brute out without any barriers. It was almost as though they were free, sans the metal bit between his teeth. No one needed to tell the warmblood that the entire property was surrounded by 9 foot stone walls. Those were little details.

She walked him along part of the cross country course, stroking through his unkept mane as he observed the various obstacles. “Don’t worry, bud,” she crooned to him. “Your place is with the big jumps in the stadiums.”

Czar snorted and half reared, pivoting on his back legs as she adjusted her seat calmly, used to similar antics from her other main jumper. “You’re all the same, no? Hard headed and no grace,” she chided him before shifting her weight forward.

“You want to run? Then let’s run!”

Digging her heels in, the young woman WHOOPED as the stud lunged forward, flying over the wild grass as they began to circle around the main showing property. She barely acknowledged the annoyed holler that sounded in her ears as they passed by the large warm up ring where Hunter had just, coincidentally, ended up riding CH Tartarus, her mount’s more level headed sire.
