In the wiki there is a mention in Mass Effect 2 that there is a sistership of the Normandy SR-1 called the SSV Ain Jalut.

Though it's mostly if you listen carefully of a speaker broadcast in a random area of the Citidal..... I think. Not sure how canon this is though.

I've heard that report, yes. It can be heard anywhere there is a news terminal (Omega and the Citadel (and possibly Illium? Can't remember if there are any news terminals on Illium)) .

going with comments below. SR1 just looks sleeker than the SR2. but the SR2 has a better interior design.

I still prefer this design, too. I like the SR-2 because of its size, but I preferred the layout and the shape of this one more.

I love how in Mass Effect the ships look like something that the human race would actually produce, I always thought that both Normandys (i prefer the SR-2 due to size) appear to be a pretty natural progression from the NASA space shuttle, this gives them a more realistic feel than say the Enterprise or the Andromeda... cant wait to see the Alliance armada completely rendered for ME3!

Even the alien ships look like something that humans might engineer. Though not bad in itself. I quite like the look of most of the ships.

I've got a couple of draft versions of ships that BioWare did but never made it to the final game, which is a shame. I was wondering about uploading them, though they don't have any textures, so they would be a plain colour.
