Description
This is yet another pen and ink project. It is based on a figure I saw in a dream.I wanted to portray the image of beauty that so many women strive to become--shattered, in the mirror.
What the figure represents is the result of self-loathing and the constant torture that so many women around us endure.
It is what their bodies come to look like after their irrational physical conditioning to become what our society has come to call "Beauty", thus the title.
You'll also notice the slit wrist...this was my attempt at emphasizing the sadness and depression that accompanies a woman's inability to become an image of perfection that cannot be acheived.
I hope you guys can appreciate the meaning as well as the art.

This really hit me hard. I went through a time where I was anorexic and bulimic because of a simple comment a boyfriend made. I took him too seriously even though he'd been joking around and it got pretty bad. I could barely even walk straight because I'd get dizzy and pass out in the halls at school. I didn't really get better until the age of fifteen or sixteen. I still have the urge to go back because, amazingly, I've gained quite a bit of weight now. Seeing this, though, ugh...it just reinforces how stupid a choice it was.

I love the artwork, the meaning is so clear and it captures women today really well!!! the whole annorexic, afro thing is great, yer ok its creepy but portrays what the modern image of beauty is todayand what women do to themselves for that perfect body-image...or mybe not so perfect... I have friends who are going through this and this picture summarizes how they feel and what they look like (almost lol) This picture hits really close to home...I'm am so gunna show my friends this and maybe it might cure them!!!
But yeah anyway this picture is absolutely fantastic!!!

I admire the emotions that are portrayed from this drawing, this shows an opinion in a haunting way.
Inner beauty is what that makes a human with admirable character traits. That is the beauty beings should strive for.

very good. the art syle reminds me a little of some of Korn's art in the pamplets that come with their cds. very dark and cringe-worthy. i think you acheived what you set out to do.

why some people see this as beautiful i do not know.
maybe someone with anorexia will se this and see that this is what they are trying to achieve, and be discusted at it and their self image, and realise what they have become.
thats what we can hope for
makes me want to eat even more!

I've been trying to achive the same thing for the past 3 months now. Unfortunetly, I'm not very good at the human skeleton.
My vision though was that of a young woman, seeing as that's what I see every day at school.
