Description
Art trade we thought up a long time ago, I finally finished my half. Hope he enjoys it?5 layer on 3 records. I didn't have a light light red, so I just sprayed it lightly; a technique I'm getting damn good at.

U R getting good at it. I like the mood of this, retro and futuristic. Thought it was flat 2D art, till I saw the baseboard!

I love this because it's probably as close to a man of the moon as I'm going to get.
I'd love if it more if it was mounted on a blue panel stenciled with the night sky and what not.

They're all different stencils. There's one seperate stencil cut for each color.

very impressive, so i believe you poster print your stencils, cut each color separately on attached layers and spray through onto vinyl. i got a few questions tho, 1 do you use regular aerosol paint and 2 how come you use vinyl records as a surface? does it get sprayed more even or what?

1. I do use regular aresol paint, nothing special.
2. Record albums are a lot cheaper than traditional canvas, that's why I (and a lot of other stencilers) spray on them frequently.

If you don't mind me asking, what tools do you cut your stencils with? an exacto knife maybe? If not, please do tell, because using an exacto is pretty slow, and curves are tough to cut. Also, do you use acetate, frisket or something less expesive and tougher to work with like paper. I am working on a 4 layer stencils right now, and I'm cutting it on 4 glossy posters which will most likely be useless after the first and only use.
P.S. I saw a comercial for a crayola safe paper cutter, which is a kids grade dremmel sized paper cutter that claims to cut safely through only a single layer of paper each cut, and can cut at any angle and carve out any curve.
Any thoughts?

I use an xacto #1 knife with a #11 blade. It works perfectly for me cutting curves and such, but that might be just because I'm used to doing it. I cut all my stencils out of posterboard. I've tried acetate, but I don't really like it.
I've seen the crayola safe paper cutter, but I doubt it works as well as it sounds.

His sheep stencils, his koi, and his Jesus. He has three very good stencils, with variation in them all. You have bazillions of hot stencils - The flower board, the obey, the o rly shoes, the katamari, the halftone (espeically the halftone), the videocamera, the gorillaz, and many, many more.
