This one is a funny one, whenever she has a chance she makes puns about a gem, but obviously knows when it's gonna hurt her sensitivility.

Try taking a character's traits and put each one of them in your own
like- Pearl's nose, Peridot, body shape, amethyst's hair, garnet's outfit (or you can look out for your own outfit), etc!
about the pallete, you can see that the palletes of gems of SU doesn't match 100% with the natural gemstone, like Lapis or Pearl. So you can start off with the initial color and develop it all.
if your gem is green, make a pallete mostly green, but you can add complemental colors, like a yellowish or blueish green.
