Description Amon from Legend of Korra. Number 7 in Series. I think the last one for now, but the LT IS alluring. You know, give the baddies another one.

This was a fun series to do.

Between Amon, the rest of the chi-blocking Equalists and the Lieutenant, this season's villains were simply amazing.

I love the fact that the Lieutenant is voice by Lance Henriksen! Like he had anything else to do *cough*Tron:Uprising*cough*

Exactly. He's Weyland in Aliens, Dacher in Dark Athena, Tesler in Tron, and Lieutenant in Legend of Korra. That's mostly where I know him from.

Also does a lot of games too like Admiral Hackett in Mass Effect.

I liked Tron: Uprising. Do you know if that series is still going to be continued? I am loving this new trend in more serious, "revolution-y" cartoons (Korra, Uprising, The Motor City, etc.)

Yes, that man has one awesome voice!

Not sure if it will be, but I do watch & enjoy all the ones you mentioned (LoK, Tron: Uprising, and Motorcity).

Besides focusing on a kid or group of kids fighting evil, totalitarian-types, they have little in common: different settings, styles, music and M.O.'s. Korra is an elemental brawler, while Beck (Tron) and Mike (Motor) are built for speed. Uprising and LoK are in the Batman Beyond-mold, but Motor (from the guy behind Megas XLR) is its own thing entirely.

They don't have much in common at all, but they share similar themes. I love how they're totally different shows aside from that. I love their general seriousness and their ability to deal with darker themes in a broad, almost political way.

Kinda what I was getting at. And I understand the underlying political stuff amid all the action:

Korra = Capitalists vs. Communists

Tron = Digital police-state/dictatorship

MC = Evil mega-corporation

The benders are more feudalistic than Capitalistic plus many of them are ascetics and monksΒ which is quite a bit different from CapitalismΒ and the Equalists mean something totally different by equality than Communists do , Β also there`s never been a true Communist society which would be stateless , classless and moneyless . There have been people who called themselves Communists but they never followed it through to the end goal Marx and Engels envisioned .

You've made your point, but it's still based on major issues from the 20th century. Hell, President Raiko is FDR without the Polio...

Yeah! Really great shows and I hope to see more of the commies Equalists even though they will most likely no longer be main antagonists. (Conflicts like that don't just die, Amon or no Amon.)

I agree, Motor has a different setup from Korra. In fact, the political views could be interpreted as almost the opposite! We have yet to see more of how Clu's regime operates.

You got a point. They might have a few fanatics still stickin' around, similar to the Neo-Nazis.

Yeah, almost, except Kane (Motor) is just as power-hungry as Yakone & his sons were in Korra. Clu, meanwhile, is a digital Hitler. Remember the ISO purge?
They're schemers, trying to dominate their little worlds. I'm not a schemer. Like the courageous main characters, I try to show the schemers how pathetic their attempts at domination really are...

I agree with you. Although the villains are often visually more interesting, I scheme against the schemers alongside the heroes.

I hope so too, I'm really enjoying it. Its not as....complex as Korra, but still entertaining in its own right. It keeps you on your toes, thats for sure!

Yeah. Plus, I'll have to have something to watch obsessively if BY ANY CHANCE Korra completely sucks without Equalists.

No fear! Stop your fearing! The world will be expanding and we'll see what they'll have in store next year, yeah? Remember that she's still young and inexperienced and needs to toughen up her resume of Avatar-ing.

Capital-Zero In reply to tsbranch [2012-06-24 13:29:54 +0000 UTC]

Alright, I won't start bawling until after the first two new episodes. Well, if they stink, that is. And the equalist conflict will no longer be center stage, but Korra/the audience should still see at least hints of that attitude during her travels.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

tsbranch In reply to Capital-Zero [2012-06-24 16:57:39 +0000 UTC]

Sure, sure. But there's still some side stories that still need to be resolved. The aftermath, did the LT. die or did he escape to try again, teen relationships, does Asami take control of her fathers business, and obviously Korra's continuing character building as the Avatar. Plus new baddie, of course.

The only thing bad, is the waiting....so much waiting...

Thanks! Yeah, those arms were going to be just blank, until I found the concept art on them and saw that there was more details and I decided to take it a step further.
