Please don't diss the Gordons' by comparing them to a family of overly inbred twits.Ā The only ones I had any respect for were, Bill, Charlie and the Twins!
Ā
But you're right about the ginger aspect.Ā It's been overdone.Ā I liked the TV show where both father and daughter were brunettes, and she had to wear a red wig to throw off her opponents.
Ā
Okay, he was a greying brunette, but it still counts.
Ā
And PLEASE, someone tell DC to have him lose the mustache! It's gross!

The 'stache has to stay. Say what you will about it as a style... it seems to be a cop thing. Cop buddy of mine started sporting one a few years into the job. Don't ask me why.

My dad has sported one for decades; in spite of the fact that it's gone mostly salt and pepper and really isn't as attractive as he thinks it is.

The Gordans have literally always been ginger. They have never not been. And the mustache is a classic part of his design, it's not going anywhere.

Nothing to do with your design, but I dislike the de-aged commissioner... and I hate how every member of the Gordon family is now a ginger. They've become like the Weasleys of Gotham.

I'm a little torn on it. It seemed that Gordon was just...aging too fast around the cast prior to the new52, so I like the de-aging, but yeah, to what point it would seem right? I would problably like a 40s Gordon, but that's me.

Younger!Jim Gordon was already being portrayed as a ginger in Batman: Year One (1987). I don't like that he's been de-aged either, but him being a redhead is hardly something new.

True enough, but I don't recall James Jr. and Mrs. Gordon being redheads as well. They really are like the Weasleys, now.

Baby James Gordon, Jr. was already being portrayed as a redhead as early as Legends of the Dark Knight #13 (1990): dc.wikia.com/wiki/File:James_Gā¦
So really, it's only Barbara Sr. being a redhead that's new. Honestly, there's nothing so strange to me about Babs and James Jr. both having inherited Jim's red hair (or Babs having inherited it through Jim's brother, if you go with the canon where she's Jim's niece). It helps connect them as a family for there to be some resemblance (James Jr.'s adult design was specifically meant to look like a younger version of Jim), and with only two kids, it's hardly genetically unlikely.
