Description Due to issues with the D class notably its range and need for turntables, Barry ordered seven locos similar in design to the D however they would be tank engines giving both weights over the drivers and good braking their 0-8-2 arrangement gave better coal and water capacity over the small tendered D class.

Finding work was easy seeing work on the Vale of Glamorgan line, they could be found regularly hauling coal trains between Barry Docks and Cadoxton Yard.

When the Barry was grouped into the GWR they were given the numbers 1380-1386 gaining number plates, Safety valve bonnets were also added, as well as a few other changes that I can't tell what they physically looked like.
