Seri: It was a lovely day, as far as I could see from the window, so I decided to go out to have a stroll. Just as I went out of my cabin I ran into someone I hadn't seen for a longer while... "Morning, Aya!" I said with a smile.
Aya: The new location had me excited, tall towers spiraling upwards in a beautiful manner you'd only see in sci-fi. I mean, compared to the other places we've docked, this definitely had to be the most grandoise. I put on my shoes and hop from my bunk bed, giving Ipo a peck on the cheek before rushing out of the Electric Car and into the Lounge. We were slowly docking into the train station, and I could barely hold my anticipation. To my peripheral, however, I notice an old face I haven't seen in a while. I manage a wry smile, running to her and giving her a hug. "Seri! It's been forever! I mean...wow. How are you?"
Seri: I hug Aya back, it seemed like she was in a lot better mood than that day, when we parted - it was reassuring. "I'm fine, thank you! How about you?" I start heading towards the exit slowly. We can talk while we are walking after all.
Aya: "I'm...good!" I rub the back of my beck nervously, trying to mitigate the tense air with a little laughter. "I feel a lot better. I had some talks with people and...yeah." We finally make it out of the train, the tall towers still a giant spectacle. Quite literally. A long whistle comes out as I see the clouds literally spiraling around them, the sheer height almost impossible to believe. "Sorry. About before." I shake my head and pat my cheeks, passing Seri a smile and pointing towards one of the busy streets. "But that's all in the past now. Let's try to have fun! You wanna look for anything in particular?"
Seri: I was surprised when Aya apologized. "Yeah, don't worry about that - it's all in the past." I said and let myself be surprised at the scenery - this place seemed beautiful. "Right! Some clothes shops, maybe?" I said, feeling my expression turning to smile.
Aya: I couldn't help but warm up at her statement, not really expecting such a swift dismissal of what happened. It made me happy at least, that she doesn't seem to hold many grudges. We head out and already we were forming in the crowd, the bustling marketplace full of energy as I watch for anything of interest. There was a high end shop selling some local clothing, a bit of greek influence in them along with a tad amount of gaudiness. Still, when in Rome, do as the Romans do. "Wanna try some clothes on?"
Seri: I smiled. "Sure!" And went on to try some - it wasn't easy to pick one that wasn't tastelessly extravagant, but eventually I happened to find a creamy yellow dress I liked with fine black ornaments. It seemed to have a nice discount on it too, so I couldn't help but instantly buy it. Coupled with black sandals my outfit for this place was complete. I instantly felt at least three times more at ease, now that I didn't stand out as much.
Aya: I give some of the robes a chance as well, heading into the changing room and swiftly copying the fabric onto my body. Being a shapeshifter really has its perks when it comes to pricing. Though, I still think I'll buy it. Having the actual thing is way more authentic than just morphing and blending it in. It was a nice tint of light mint green, along with greek-styled sandals on my feet and silver bangles as accessories. I head out of the changing room and make the purchase as well, seeing Seri outside and giving her a friendly wave. "Looks good doesn't it?" I strike pose.
Seri: I smile and nod. "It does! Still has your touch," I said, thinking that even if Aya had changed her clothes she still kept all the colors and overall feel of the clothing similar. I guessed that was true for both of us - you like what you like after all. I spotted something shiny on the ground by Aya's feet and reached down to get it-- I pulled on a bit and from among the pavement rocks came out a big silvery feather. "What's that...?"
Aya: "Hmm? What's what--oh!" I look down, finding something shining from below my feet. Seri pulls it out of the ground, revealing it to be a glistening silvery feather. I purse my lips at it before recalling that Merostar issued a mission involving them. Oh! Yeah! It involved this guy who was being framed for stealing them! This should be a clue to finding the rest, hopefully. I turn to Seri, giving her a determined look. "That feather is really important. Merostar told us we should try our best to find all the silver and gold ones scattered around here." I give her a sly smile. "So, feel like going on a scavenger hunt?"
Seri: I return a sly smile. "Sounds good to me!" I look around at the bustling street, but nothing seems to sparkle quite like this around this place.
Aya: Hmm...Looks as if this isn't going to be as easy as it sounds. Sure, we found one silver feather, but scouring the entirety of this city seemed almost impossible to do. We need a lead. Why is it that we were able to find one all the way out here? Maybe the man was travelling down this path near the market places...Hmm, I take a couple steps ahead and see another gleaming thing in the distance, closing in and seeing a shine of gold. "Seri! Over there!" I run over towards a couple of crates to find a golden feather peeking out of a crevice, a brilliant metallic gold glistening in the light. I pry it off and examine it before turning to Seri. "Maybe we could find more if we look in the crates?"
Seri: "Uh-huh, let's try that," I say with a nod and search over the place where Aya found the beautiful golden feather. Her hunch was right and a bit further away I notice a faint glister. I brush away some dust and - tadah! - another one. "I wonder where we could put them," I said seeing that the feathers were big and started to hinder searching for others.
Aya: I give her this sort of inquisitive look, picking up a silver feather that was hiding behind one of the gutters. This is honestly really strange...who would even leave this stuff just lying around? Was the person really that clumsy to just drop all these precious accessories? Hmmm...as we continued looking for more, I can already see that some people from the alleyway were noticing our findings, malicious intent practically seething out of them as they close the distance between us and them. One of the guys was sporting really big wings, along with the same sort of greek-inspired clothing that both of us were wearing at the moment. He passes us this wicked grin.
"Heey fellahs. Look what we found here. Two cuties. Two real, good lookin' girls. Not bad for being completely wingless." They laugh amongst each other, and at this point my eyebrows were furrowing deep. "You shouldn't hang around this area, Wingless. Us who're more fortunate would be more than happy to pick you up and show you were you all belong." He points to the sky, probably intending to drop us or something. What an asshole.
"Listen, 'fellah.' You better step back if you know what's good for you."
He pushes me against the wall, obviously peeved at my retort. "I don't think you're in a position to make threats, lil lady." I can feel him puffing out a breath of hot air on my ear, and holy shit was it creepy. At this point I finally had enough, opting to gather power in my legs as I deliver a really strong kick to his groin.
"Eat foot, you shitty grapefruit!" I run when he stumbles back, grabbing Seri's hand as we run towards the crowd.
Seri: I hold onto Aya's hand as she pulls me after her. It isn't hard to keep up, running is my forte. But it seems that flying takes faster than running does - the men kick off the ground and fly over us and reaching the crowd didn't seem to help one bit. One of them dives down - ready to grab me. I form an invisible shield above us and the dude hits his head and arms and falls down on the ground.
"Sheesh-- what's with these people?" I mumble and continue running - unless we get to a place where flying is out of question, this seemed troublesome.
Aya: I whole-heartedly agreed with Seri here. What was the deal with all these prissy people in the city? Just because we didn't have wings...I look to the side though noticing that our pursuers were stopped dead in their tracks, Seri probably the culprit at their sudden crash. "Nice one!" I pull us towards a narrow tunnel, hopeful we'll be able to lose them here.
We hide behind another mess of crates, the sounds of the winged men loud and clear outside in the hopes of finding us. Thankfully, they fan out their search elsewhere, leaving me and Seri safe for the moment. "Whew...that was a close one." I turn to my rabbit friend, brows furrows. "Talk about rude, huh? Hopefully we can go back to finding these feathers in time...lesse how much we have..."
One...two....six....sixteen...nineteen...oh! We have one more to find, and I think it was a golden one since we have ten silvers already. peek out from behind the boxes, hopeful to find the last feather where we last looked. "You ready to go? We'll probably have to sneak around."
Seri: I nodded and, hearing the men's voices in the distance, I started walking in the opposite direction from them. Soon enough we could see a light at the end of the tunnel, coming out on the opposite side from the one, where we went in.
There was a fine streak of land and then the floating island seemed to end - we were so high I couldn't even see what was down, over the corner. But along some floating rocks I saw something sparkle. "Isn't that--?" It looked like a golden feather was stuck in a crack and was fluttering in the wind.
Aya: Wooah....it was almost like staring into a void when looking down below the island. Kinda like a reverse sky! Talk about weird experiences and opposite viewpoints. I was gonna continue admiring the view were it not for Seri ushering me to look nearby, seeing a golden sparkle not too far away. Looks like we'd have to fly there to get to it though...
"I can morph some wings and get 'em. Watch the other feathers while I go grab it, alright?" I pass her a reassuring smile, giving her a thumbs up before green plasma began shifting behind my back. The malleable material dances in place until they form a recognizable pair of batwings. (cuz batwings are cool) With no time wasted, I jump off from the edge and start soaring my way towards the rock. Hopefully Seri will be alright back there....
Seri: I nodded and took the feathers, holding them firmly. But right as Aya left, a winged being shot out from the tunnel. I put my shield out by instinct and one of the dudes chasing us earlier hit his head on it as well, falling down next to me. He called others, though and soon enough I could see two more guys coming out. My shield kept me safe for now-- but it's not like I could maintain it forever.
Aya: It takes a while to beat the currents that were making my fly path harder to go through, but I manage to flap my wings enough to reach the golden feather before it was blown in the breeze. I turn back to Seri, waving the feather for her to see. "I got it, Seri! We should head back to the trai--" I look in terror though when those damn goons came back to mess with us, making me tense up before zooming back to rescue Seri. "I'm coming!" I shoot myself forward and form jets beneath my soles, speeding up and colliding with one of the winged bastards and sending him into a building wall. In no time flat I start shifting to give myself bear arms, punching and slashing through them and keeping them away from my friend. "Seri, take the feathers and head back to the train! I'll take care of these guys!"
Seri: "Gotcha!" I say. Having been through a trouble with Aya before, I knew that she was more than capable with dealing with a couple of goons. I took my shield off and jumped up, kicking the head of one who got in my way, then dashed into a run without looking back, keeping mindful on the road ahead - as long as I kept to places that made attacks from above hard, it should be fine.
Aya: I finish off the last of the thugs, delivering a good kick to the face as I start hustling my pace back to Seri into the train. Hopefully that was enough time for her to escape. One of the thugs she managed to stagger I shove to the left as I find her running through the crowd, mindful of the people and making sure we got through. The train came into view, and I dive my way into it along with Seri. We...we made it! I turn to her, giddy and smiling. "Heheh...you're pretty fast on your feet."
Seri: I try to catch my breath. "That's my charm point!" I laugh and put out the feathers. "Who do we need to give them to?"
Aya: "I think we just need to hand these to Merostar, and we should be good..." I round up the remaining feathers and take them from Seri, giving her a nod of both contentment and approval. "We did pretty good, I'd think. You'd make an awesome hero if you ever put your mind to it."
Seri: I laugh. "Being a hero is quite far from my aspirations. But I did get a good look at the place at least-- well enough to know I wouldn't want to live here-- what's with the clothes on most people - sooo gaudy."
Aya: "Pffft. Totally. Not exactly fond of living with people so stuck up." I find myself a place on the couch, sorta happy that all the excitement finally died down. Two times already I've had to go on quite the adventure with Seri, so it wouldn't hurt to just relax before turning these feathers in. "Soooo, Seri. You enjoying the train so far? Any dirt on some passengers you got a hold of?"
Seri: "Yeah, it's good here." I smile. "Strangely enough, nope - even if the radio in my room sometimes transmits conversations, all I get are people deciding what to have for lunch or if the lunch was good or if it made them constipated - I wouldn't call that dirt."
Aya: "Well, then maybe one of these days we can scope stuff out...I-I mean cuz you know...heroes make sure the citizens are okay and safe. Can't let any secrets get outta hand, y'know?" That was total bullshit, and even I knew it. I know heroes don't really do that stuff, but at the same time lots of juicy stuff has been happening that would be great to get in on, and I'm sure Seri wouldn't mind a bit of that either. "So, you game then?"
Seri: "Oh. Right. Like this I might just happen to become a hero without noticing it." Good going, Aya! I nod. "I'm game."
Aya: "Well...let's head over to my room and I'll tell you a lot!" I pull her over through the hallway and into my room. We got a lot of things to talk about.
