Description Newest Tutorial I've been working on for DAZ|Studios. This one is Advanced Shadow Casting. I do apologize for the size but there was a lot of information to convey.

Hey, I never thought about using the diffuse map as an ambient light map... That's not a bad idea...

Something I came up with a couple months ago and am still perfecting the method. Though I think its pretty much set. I've been able to make much better renders by using the ambient to serve as the shadows with the diffuse map on it.

For complex scenes it might imbalance the shadows and a fill light might be better (unless you do it with everything), but for solo figures it might even be better since the diffuse map would bring out better color in the shadow areas. I'll have to try that with a scene or two of mine and see what happens. Thanks for the tip!
