Description
This is a character from Juliet Marillier's book Son of Shadows which is a part of the Seven Waters Trilogy. I recomend it to anyone.This is my first "offical" attempt at using a computer program to color artwork. I've crossed over the dark side! I know, But I still enjoy traditional a little more. The comp is just quicker. Even though I don't have money to buy Photoshop, and I refuse to STEAL it and have to use a cheap off brand that's not quite as nice, I hope it doesn't look too horrible and that you all enjoy it. Thanks.

for software you can look up "PhotoGimp" on [link] - very much like ps - don't let the title OpenSource fool you. Gimp is WELL matained and very talented. certainly worth a look.

Anywho back to the drawing, wow. you are really good. i kinda imagined his tatoos a little differently, along with his facial features but this is an AWSOME rendition of him. WOW..... just... wow....

A honey bee? I haven't read the books in such a long time I don't remember Bran's description very well. I'm just glad the picture turned out alright despite my horrible memory.

That's interesting the way you use the tattoos to make him look feathered! Although I see Bran illustrated often on DeviantArt, but this picture takes a fresh approach! I love the effect of having real ravens near him, and especially the feather falling. I also think you did a very good job of incorporating Celtic-like twists into the eahter pattern. Job well done!

I use a cheap off-brand called Paint Shop Pro 7. It's a knock-off, but it does the job if you search hard enough for the programs options ^_^. I'm glad you like the picture. I figured having ravens to frame him would help emphasize the "feather" tattoo. And that is his trademark after all. Once again, I'm glad you like it.

That's also one of the reasons why I wanted to do this picture. I hadn't seen any pictures on DA, of Bran, that really made me feel at awe the way I imagine it would feel to see Bran in real life. So I drew this over-dramatized picture trying to get to that point and weather or not it was successful...I don't know. But I'm glad you like it. ^_^
