Well, just letting people know I haven't totally vanished or forgotten my sketch list. This one is for =zenrider , a picture of his self named character, Zen.I could have gone all night on this one, but two things stopped me. 1) work in a few hours means no sleep. Meh. 2) I said I'd only do a sketch, and I don't want to disappoint other people who get a sketch if I do some colored, highly polished picture for Zen. Fairness for all and such.
I might go back in and add a little color depth, but it'll probably stay the way it is.
All in all, took about 3 and a half hours (a fair amount was coloring it). Done completely in photoshop 7. And though I know Zen doesn't use a staff, I really wanted a prop to go with that pose. Staffs are multipurpose, and not necessarily lethal. It's win win!
Oh yeah, the funky title. Every time I sketched Zen to get a feel for the character, his hair would come out looking like Lion-O's from Thundercats. It took a lot of will not to draw Zen brandishing the Sword of Omens ^__^

'Tight' seems to be the adjective of choice today. Also, it should be better now that I've got it's fullsize version fixed. For some reason, when I set it's fullview, I didn't set the original size, just some crappy 600 px wide crap. Woohoo for more detail ^__^

Shoulda seen the full psd file I sent Zen. It's 4x the size of the fullview here.
Not to sound egotistical (I'll surely loathe this picture after a night's sleep), but when stepping back and looking at this, I can't help but feel some decent shadows and a reasonable sky background could turn this from a good sketch into a halfway decent piece of art.

I really wished I had just a couple more hours to tighten the pencils and drop some general shadows. But alas, work calls. I sacrificed sleep for this, but a can't forego the money machine.
