He killed Guntz's father, poisoned Klonoa and another guy's son, quite possible a pedophile and is an alchaholic... and he has a HUGE FANBASE!

Perhaps because he looks very cool and is very strong in battle, along with several theories including that he's just venting a horrible childhood (which I don't believe) and another was that he used to be sober and quite sane, but Butz (Guntz's father) made the mistake of getting him to try alcoholic beverages, revealing him to be a psychopathic drunk, killing Butz. He got sober later and found out what he did and was so guilty he drank himself into permanent psychopathy (which I DO believe, giving the hint that if you deprive him of all alcohol, he'd turn good again, although emo).
