name: Jin Ban (Jean Ban)
-15, Female
-born of a Chinese father and an American mother.
-from a young age she was convinced her father would have preferred a male child; to make up for this she dresses as a boy and tries hard to be the son her father wanted.
-her mother is named Janet, so she named her daughter 'Jean'. Her family and schoolmates pronounce Jean as 'Jin'.
-she started flying kites because it's a 'boy's thing' but developed a true love for it.
about her kite:
-the kite is based on the Jian , a pair of birds that each have only one eye and one wing, and depend on each other to live and are inseperable, which represent husband and wife.

Not to be rude, but I think your entry should have won the Knite contest. It's gorgeous from head to toe: perfect colors, composition, and construction. It blows my mind, and I would buy a print of this in a heart beat. You should be proud. You've created something simply beautiful.

Story-wise, I really like *aozorize 's Zhen myself; he adds a lot to the story by serving as the antagonist, plus he has his fun quirks and his design stands out. Jin fulfills a supporting role, nothing more (and staying invisible is necessary, wouldn't want to take the focus off the action between main characters lol)

Hey congrats in winning second place! I have to say yours was one of the most interesting kite I've ever seen! I'm a bit of a sucker for mythological things and just recently discovered about Jian because of this~
