name: Jin Ban (Jean Ban)
-15, Female
-born of a Chinese father and an American mother.
-from a young age she was convinced her father would have preferred a male child; to make up for this she dresses as a boy and tries hard to be the son her father wanted.
-her mother is named Janet, so she named her daughter 'Jean'. Her family and schoolmates pronounce Jean as 'Jin'.
-she started flying kites because it's a 'boy's thing' but developed a true love for it.
about her kite:
-the kite is based on the Jian , a pair of birds that each have only one eye and one wing, and depend on each other to live and are inseperable, which represent husband and wife.

The sunset colours look awesome! ! I really like your style. Just had a question about the buildings in the background. Do you use a reference, or make it up? (I've never drawn backgrounds like that before)

I looked at a lot of pictures, and used some textures to add a nice layer of roughness I could paint over. But yes, it's hand drawn (therefore the perspective is wrong... lol)
