Description
Freezeflame is a Thermopteryx from the planet Frigus Ignis. This interesting species is carbon based, yet its covered with special scale-like feathers made out of silicon, protecting this quadrupedal avian from severe extremes of heat and cold. The home world of these fantastic creatures remains tidally locked with the sun, one side faces the sun and the other doesn't. Because of this, one half of the planet is scorching at 2000 Degrees Celsius and the air is on fire, while the other half is freezing at -200 Degrees Celsius and the air is frozen into liquid state with a narrow, habitable "twilight" zone between the halves, but in spite of these extremes, the locals aren't bothered by either side. Thermopteryx have evolved amazing abilities for coping with their planet, including the ability to change from hot to cold inside themselves. When they heat up, their bodies become red and orange and they can release bursts of fire, scorching anything in their paths. When they cool down, their bodies turn into shades of dark and light blue and release gusts of freezing cold wind that can freeze anything solid. They can also modify their bodies, allowing them to become intangible and phase through solid objects. These creatures are capable of flying with great speed and agility as well as surviving the vacuum of space without the need for oxygen. These creatures have very powerful instinctive behaviors including a strong need to reproduce once every 100 earth years, they make their nests out of any metal they can find and lay a total of 16 eggs than guard it until they hatch, then they'll care for their children until they reach mature, which takes about 10-12 human years.
