I'll be real with you:

Unlike most people, I didn't grow up with this show, nor have I really ever seen it until last month. It's a show I'd hear many people praise endlessly for its witty humor and amazing characters, and I told myself: "Hey, sounds like a show for me!" but then I realized that there are 29 SEASONS OF THIS THING. So I told myself I'd never watch it since 29 seasons would be way too long to binge-watch. Many claim that over the years, the creativity stifled and the show is now a shell of its former self and only recommend the first 10-12 seasons, but I can't attest to that sentiment since I have never seen this show... until now.

A lot of people also say that season 1 is weak and that season 2 is where it gets good. I agree, somewhat. I haven't seen all of season 2 yet but based on what I have watched, I can say it's a big improvement in animation, humor, and even characters. This season's animation may be choppy, but like the first season of SpongeBob SquarePants, it's pretty charming, even if it isn't good on a technical level. I like all of the characters a lot. All of them have humorous qualities but still manage to feel like real people that could exist in real life. I enjoy the stories too. While not hilarious all the time (after all, it's just the first season), I think the comedy is decent and manages to get a laugh out of me here and there, but the stories manage to keep me intrigued since I do genuinely care about the characters in this show. My favorite characters have to be Bart, Lisa, Homer, and Mr. Burns. For a first season, it does a good job at introducing you to this world and characters and it's easy to get lost in some of the stories the episodes provide, but it's not one that I'd say is particularly revisitable as the seasons after it do overshadow it. After all, it is a foundation for what this series would eventually become, so I'll give credit where it's due. It's a pretty GOOD season with decent comedy, likeable characters, and solid stories but nothing too groundbreaking or memorable.
