Part ten: Plot twist Part 10 - King of the Jungle

''Simba?..'' Mufasa asked quietly at one point. ''Could I have a serious moment with you? Without all the joking?''

Simba raised his eyebrows and snorted. ''Yeah, what's with the serious face?'' Simba started sarcastically. Of course he knew what Mufasa wanted to talk about. There hadn't been one moment the word 'stampede' or 'Scar' had been said in the time Mufasa had stayed in the jungle.

''I want to talk about what happened..'' Mufasa started.

Simba lowered his ears and sighed. ''Dad..'' he said as he looked at the ground. ''I'm sorry I caused the stampede. If I wouldn't have that strong need to prove you I was brave, this all wouldn't have happened! But I was young.. just a..''

And before he could finish his apology Mufasa placed his paw on his shoulder. As he did that, he noticed his paw was still so much bigger than Simba's. Simba was still young. ''Son, it is alright. It was not your fault,'' he said as he looked Simba in the eyes. He had a warm looked upon his face, it calmed Simba down. ''Scar set it all up..''

Mufasa sighed as he said Scar's name. ''Speaking of Scar..'' He started hesitatingly. ''We must go back to the pridelands.''

Simba looked up and dropped his jaw. ''What do you mean, we must go back?''

''Scar has taken over the pridelands, with all the wrong intentions. The lionesses are in danger, Nala, your mother.. The circle of life is out of balance, and as king and future king it is our responsibility to restore what has been ruined.'' Mufasa spoke strictly.

Simba shook his head. ''No..'' he started quietly, but soon his voice became louder. ''I am not going back! This is my home, and you.. I thought you enjoyed it with me here. We were finally so happy, together! I am no prince, and I don't want to be. I want nothing to do with the pridelands!''

Mufasa's breath stoked. ''I am not asking you to go back with me. This is an order as your father and your king.''

Simba turned his back on his father. ''Well what kind of father and king are you? Disappearing for what feels like ever?'' he shouted as he started walking away from his father, whom had been left behind shocked. Mufasa didn't know what to say. He didn't recognize his own son anymore.

But there was no option left than to return to the pridelands alone..
