Description This is the smallest mummy in the world
The Guanajuato mummies were discovered in a cemetery of a city named Guanajuato northwest of Mexico City (near Léon). They are accidental modern mummies and were literally "dug up" between the years 1896 and 1958 when a local law required relatives to pay a kind of grave tax.
How were they made?
No one knows for certain since no scientists have studied the mummies. Possibly a combination of the soil conditions and a dry climate of the mountainous area caused the bodies to dry out naturally before they could decompose.

Mummies are one of my favorite subjects, it's fascinating to learn how the ancients honored their dead, what they died from, and how customs compare to the modern world. This is an excellent shot, well done!

Wow. Neat looking mummy. Is it an adult?
From the looks to me it looks like a child.

Or is an adult and the body shrunk over time?

But very cool pic. i love Mummies!!

It looks kind of happy with the eyelids all drooped closed. Like happy eyes. Like a happy Asian guy's eyes! Aww! Maybe it's a yawn. If I ever have a baby and it's accidentally mummified, I hope it's a happy one like this! (Though I hope that never IS accidentally mummified. But if it happened... you know.)

Linda foto de la pequeña momia.

Me gusta. Antes me daban miedo las momias de Guanajuato, pero eso fué hace años... Supongo que la debería agregar a lo de "favoritos"

TuKan In reply to chaos5 [2004-03-31 05:52:12 +0000 UTC]

The truth, I did not hope for so much of this photography since I am not very good in this and in addition the mummy was within a display cabinet that it prevents you to take a good shot, I just change the back ground with photoshop. Im glad that you like it
