Description mas monos chinos xd.

One thing I like about the japanese mythology is the LARGE variety of spirits, demons, ghosts, or well yokai. Also, there's always really weird looking creatures there, and creatures that do weird and specific stuff. A lot of them are listed in old art, but not everyone has a lore, making them kinda mysterious. Some may be spirits from folk tales "collected" by the artists, others can be forgotten kami/gods, even there are yokai whose behavior was later invented by other artists.

The things you learn when you're looking for illustrations.
I decided to do more of these japanese creatures. Unlike the first one, I just drew some yokai that I saw in old japanese scrolls. I tried to do variations anyways, well, not technically since they're still based on those scroll things heh.

I originally just wanted to use them for one of my series, but I think I'll do more just for fun. So expect more next time.

Aww heck yeah, I agree the amount that they have on these demon mons are insane and it's always so interesting to read all of them. I do recall it being said that they were created for morale and safety purposes; like scaring children to do the right thing or something... I dunno, I might be wrong on that one haha
Can't even pick a favourite from here, I love all of them. Though the one I do recognise and had a pretty big interest in was Kumoburu

That's actually a posibility, it is theorized that maybe the kappa (not pictured here xd) was created so the children did not approach dangerous rivers.
Hehe that one, I don't know why is there a spider-cow demon roaming Japan, but again, the odd creatures are one of the reasons why I like their mythology!

Ah yeah, the watermelon samurai hehe.
Exactly, more than a yokai it's a legend. Once in a mansion of a samurai, a giant foot just crushed the ceiling and ordered to be cleaned.
What a history xD.
