Description So, I decided to remake the old concept art of the Meta Origins unmasking scene ([link] ). And I've been doing so much digital art that I finally had to break out the colored pencils. Ah, Prismacolors, how I have missed you.

It's more or less the same...but a few changes. NUMBER ONE: It's finished this time NUMBER TWO: Chuva's position is different. I realized that, considering her scale compared to Meta Knight, her holding the mask would block her entire body...which I didn't want to do, so it's now laying on the ground and she has the strap. NUMBER 3: I didn't go overboard with the wrinkes in Meta's cape

...This one got a little scribbly. That's because I was doing it fast, and several of my colored pencils were stubs that I positively ran into the ground. In fact, several colored pencils bit the dust in the making of this picture. Good thing I had new ones!

Another dynamic scene full of emotion. Some drawings are completely lifeless, but this seems to bring out any shock or surprise that your character might be having and let the viewers almost feel it.

The body proportions are good. Moving along...

For MK's cape, it definitely is good to refrain from going overboard with ruffles, but when there are any, use different lengths and curves to bring in interest. If you want to show that there is some wind, both MK's cape and the your character's cape should be off the battlement stones slightly. Fabric folds in many ways and can curl inward and outward. It can disappear behind another fold and so on. Don't feel hesitant to show some variation.

For the cape mantle, it appears that there is a slight breeze so curving the cape mantle to follow the wind direction would help show that. For a scene like this, a still air would hold back some of the drama that you brought out.

Both of their armor look fantastic! I love how sleek they are! Also, very nice shading.

Thank you for critiquing (again)!

Woohoo! Capes! Definitely not my strong point when it comes to fabric I am still trying to work on fabric in general, and I definitely see what you mean about having the fabric fold over and under to give some variation. I'll definitely try that if I ever draw MK in a similar position.

As for my character...uh, really, the reason why I didn't do a great job on her cape was because she's tiny. This was drawn on a regular piece of 8 1/2 X 11 printer paper, and between her being small and me trying to differentiate her cape and her armor and her foot and the mask and blah blah blah, I could barely see the fabric. So I had to refrain from doing anything fancy there, or else it wouldn't look right.

Thanks so much for all your compliments. I'm glad to hear that my picture has emotional impact, because I'm planning to go into storyboarding as a career and you definitely get in trouble there if your art is lifeless I'm glad you enjoyed!
