Description
A boy in my art class named Tony Bui called me a free spirit one day when he was either drunk and/or half asleep. He described to me sleepily exactly what he believed a free spirit to be, and to tell you the truth, it really stuck with me. I won't insult his words by trying to repeat them the best way I can, but in my mind, a free spirit is a determined girl (or guy) who enjoys breaking through normalities and conventionalism. In the photo (taken and modeled by ~ivorylily ), she just looked like a free spirit, or like one should look. No, I didn't change the photo much at all, it was beautiful as is, but I really hope you enjoy this Ivory, and I really hope the rest of you enjoy it also.

This has inspired me no end. The hair is great - I'm amazed at the variation of colours and tones for each of the strands. But it's the way you've built up the colour and shading by overlapping those beautifully smooth, transparent bubble-like shapes - breathtaking.
At this stage in my vector art career, I have absolutely no idea how you'd begin working out where to place the contours and what hue or level of transparency to use, but it's made me want to find out.
I came to this image via Lemontea's tutorial - the close-ups of the corner of the eye were what hooked me. I don't suppose you'd consider making a tutorial yourself would you?

Just seen your hair tutorial which is fantastic, especially how you layer different colours and in what order you approach the hair.

Well I do plan on making a tutorial one day, but I just don't really know where to start. My method of vectoring is simple really, you just have to try not to base everything on the original photo take your own artistic license and such lol. If you ever have any questions or need any tips feel free to note me though, I love helping people out and I love talking about art with anyone even more so feel free to bug me about anything
lol

I love the colors in this piece. The topographic shading reaveals the soft shape and texture of the piece. The bright background brings in an altruistic quality to the piece.

Not only is this piece technically amazing, its one of the few vector pieces that moved me. The emotion in it is perfect in the title and in the awesome piece.
Definetly one of if not my favorite vector, ever.

OMG..... I have a lot to learn..... You did an awesome job with the transprency shading... I need to figure out how to do that.... I like to teach myself different techniques through photoshop... so far I am 100% self taught... no classes or tutorials.... but I think I might need some help if I ever expect my shitty doodles to look half as good as your art!

I learned from one tutorial that just taught me where to find the pen tool and what it does, so I think I qualify as 98% self taught, it's not so hard as it looks. Trust me.
