I like the simplicity in the details of this one. As much as that sounds like an oxymoron, the fact is sometimes it's the form and the strong silhouette effect that really brings out the effectiveness of a piece. This one certainly is going in the right direction. The flowing mane draws attention to the face and the eyes, which makes this image quite effective.
The only thing that I may bring to you attention is the lower (viewers') left-hand corner. I suppose that's saddle or armour on the horse but there's not enough context to make it appear so. I have a feeling that the image may be more effective if that part was simply left uncut. A wild horse with flowing manes give it a free, spiritual look. But a horse that is saddled makes it seem like a beast of burden. (The way it is portrayed now also makes the horse look like it has scales.) I know this is a small point to make, but I hope it will still be helpful to you regardless.
Overall... still a very powerful image.
