Sam is half ghost now? How did THAT happen? You'll have to read my Danny Phantom series on fanfiction.net for the answers (check my Profile here - www.fanfiction.net/u/95114/Aar⦠- for my full library of fics). Obviously, I don't own the rights to Danny Phantom, but I DID design Sam's costume.Be kind to me on this one. This is my first ever drawing using my Bamboo tablet and I did it from scratch, mostly just to see if I could pull it off. While the end result is more or less a success (in that it actually LOOKS like Danny and Sam), you'll notice that it's still pretty rough and ragged around the edges. My approach to drawing doesn't exactly make for clean lines on a computer program. Still, taking it for what it's worth as an earlier work, I hope you still like what you see. Any and all comments are welcome.

This would be Sam's dream! Β Not only does she get to help Danny take down hostile spirits from the Ghost Zone; she gets to be part of the darkness and death she always felt so akin to, a complete antithesis to her waxing conservative parents.

Well, I've always viewed Sam's whole goth persona as more of an outlet for seeking her independence than as an embrace of the actual lifestyle.Β After all, she does have some personality traits that would be considered to be quite UN-goth-like.
But that being put aside, as for Sam's ghost powers, well I remember exactly where I was when the idea came to me (it's funny the things you remember).Β I was sitting in a theater lobby, waiting on a movie to start, when I just started randomly thinking about "Phantom Planet" and how the Danny Phantom TV series ended, in general. And I couldn't help but feel that, when all was said and done, the show really ended up burning a lot of its bridges behind it.
Now I'm not being critical when I say that.Β I mean, I get what the situation was..."circumstances beyond your control"..."you can only do the best you can with what you've got and the time you have"...you know, things like that.Β But with Vlad exposed, Danny's parents knowing about him (I never subscribed to the theory that the whole world knows Danny's identity now), Danny and Sam together and Tucker in the Mayor's Office, there just didn't seem to be anyplace new to go if, by some miracle, Nickelodeon decided to change its mind and pick the show up for another season. If that happened, I got to thinking, one of the few things they could do to keep the series fresh and new would be if they gave Sam ghost powers...

Hmm... I guess since she bears a lot of similarities to Lydia Deetz from the Beetle Juice universe, I was thinking her fascination with death and the creepy would extend to her personal outlook on life, including her own.

Independence and going AGAINST the social norm for Amity Park have both definitely been part of Sam's character since "Mystery Meat", the first episode Danny Phantom.

Well, I've heard of the title, but I've never looked into the series, so...
In all honesty, the idea for Sam's powers is chiefly inspired by Green Lantern, of all things.Β She can't shoot Ghost Rays, like Danny can, but she can shape her energy into solid constructs.Β At first, her powers are limited to crude shapes.Β But after she's trained by Dora Mattingly to control the Ghostly Flame powers she acquires later on, the side effect results in her being able to create much more detailed constructs.

Hearing that line makes me think of a snippet of dialogue from "Law & Order", several years ago...
- "Whatever happened to aging gracefully?"
- "Only a man could say that without a TRACE of irony.Β MEN age gracefully...WOMEN just AGE."
I wonder if that might be the mindset here.Β After all, I've seen girls with white hair.Β I don't think it makes them look old necessarily.Β Just that they've bleached and colored and recolored their hair so many times, it doesn't know which way is up anymore and finally, just gave up the struggle.
Still, regardless of your little critique, I hope you liked the pic anyway.Β I mostly drew this first pic just so I could see if Sam's ghost form would look as good on paper as it sounded in my head.Β And personally, I think it did.^_^

The only thing separating her from Danny is a coat and constructs, like one of my OCs...

Well, when I came up with this design (I first wrote it in my fanfic series), I kind of wanted her suit to be LIKE Danny's, but at the same time, she's definitely going her own way with it.Β When I had her putting the costume together, it's actually one of Danny's original Haz Mat suits (from before he was changed...knowing Danny's parents, it's only logical that they would have made more than one for him), but with the midriff and neckline cut out.Β And she also replaced the boots with a pair of her own.Β In the story, one of the main reasons she uses one of Danny's suits as a template is the fact that she feels something of a guilty thrill to be wearing something of his.
Mind you, other power differences between her and Danny become apparent as the fanfics roll on.Β But as you've already seen my pic, "Don't Fool with a Force of Nature", you've no doubt discovered what one of those differences is.^_^

Yeah I thought of sometime funny to so with that. What if in a future story or part of one burner is going around Casper high pretending to be an exchange student and that hat helps hide his flaming ghost hair, that would make for an interesting day. You got a ghost that hasn't been outside that junkyard in a while an unsuspecting students. Can say PRANK FUN TIME
