Well folks, here we are. A new year and a new piece of artwork from me...new in more ways than one. ^_^Now, just for the record, this picture doesn't mean Steven Universe is suddenly going to be part of my regular artwork rotation. In all honestly, this picture wasn't even planned, in any way. It mostly came to my mind through a surge of inspiration, after seeing the last episode, "Together Alone".
Because...it wasn't just me, right? You all saw it, too. Connie was looking pretty jacked in that episode. There were moments where, looking at her, you'd think she could bench-press half the people in that room. Granted, half the people in the room were smaller than her, but you get where I'm going with this.
So here's where we find ourselves, with me basically taking that appearance to its logical extension. Character-wise, I actually think it would work for her pretty well. And as you can see, there's obviously one other person, in particular, who wouldn't mind one bit. ^_^
Well, that's all for now. A belated Happy New Year to all. And as always, I hope you like what you see. ^_^

Well, it's like I said in the Description. Connie just looked buff in that episode and I thought it was a good look for her. I could TOTALLY see her pulling it off...especially if she's swinging around giant swords all the time.

Well, it's like I said in the Pic Description. If you look at her in the episode, "Forever Alone", she looks pretty buff there, too, which was pretty much the inspiration for this pic. ^_^

Well, it's been pretty obvious for a while. I know the show has always gone out of its way to avoid calling her his girlfriend (because, you know...they're not "legal"). But being five Seasons deep now, I think we can allow ourselves the luxury of calling a spade, a spade, at this point.

Yeah, we were sorta stupid. XD Reminds me of how Steven acted when he first met Connie. He was such a mess. But now they're closer than most married couples.

They may not be ready to admit it themselves (it's a huge jump from simply friends) but they're close enough that it's only a matter of time before they're emotionally ready for that leap.

I don't know if it's so much that they're not ready. Certainly not from Steven's side, at any rate. I mean, he as much as admitted that he wanted to marry her, as far back as Season 2.
Granted the "I love you" confession is still in the works (though, for my money, it's probably coming much sooner than later), but even though it hasn't been said, it's pretty much been shown for quite a while now.

Yeah, but I just don't know if they're at the point where they're not 'intimidated' by being a couple, even though them clearly being crazy for each other is not something one can deny. I'd welcome them becoming an item in the series itself and calling the other their boy/girlfriend. I'd love it.

Well, like I say, I think that's more of a "sooner than later" thing. If nothing else, I think it has more to do with so many other things happening and they really haven't had time to think about it. But I think the show deserves credit for still having them kind of embracing the love they have for each other, rather than the standard trope of them denying it and pining for each other from the shadows, until they just can't take it anymore. It makes it feels more organic, in a way.

Well, let's just say, I think they're going to continue to be preoccupied, at the very least, until this "Heart vs. Mind" event has come and gone.

Well, it's just that ever since White Diamond showed up, am I the only one who got a kind of "Wizard of Oz" vibe from that whole scene? It was only a few seconds, but it felt more like a prerecorded message than an actual conversation, which immediately got me thinking we might have a usurper on the throne, here. After all, if one were to install a puppet regime, what could be better than a rigid society of blind conformists...which, even at its highest levels of power, accepts everything, questions nothing and never deviates?
So now the question is...who's the one behind the curtain (although that's kind of obvious to me, as well)?

Seriously, though, let's take a look at the available evidence. After White Diamond's little "voice mail" message, Steven gets stuck inside a bubble and whisked off, which is...huh...exactly the same thing the Pearl did...now isn't THAT interesting?
But the second part came during "Together Alone", when said Pearl showed up at the Ball. Of course, her words explained her presence there, perfectly fine. After all, no one on that rock questions lip service. But a PEARL...DARING to sit on the throne of her DIAMOND? RIDICULOUS! Even if she had been given permission, WHERE have we seen ANY evidence of a Pearl displaying THAT kind of nerve?
So, to my mind, this leads to one of two possibilities. Either this Pearl is a usurper to the throne, as I mentioned previously (no idea how this was accomplished, but I imagine explanations will come swiftly, if confirmed). Or it's entirely possible that the Pearl IS White Diamond in disguise...or possibly some part of her personality. One way or another, it's pretty clear that this Pearl is the key to all of this and I imagine we're going to find out very soon.

Yeah, that fever dream sequence Steven had would appear to confirm that. You can't dismiss the dream sequences. They're usually very telling. I mean, it's basically how "Jungle Planet" came along and let the cat out of the bag about Pink Diamond, two months before "A Single Pale Rose" actually made the reveal.
