Also...(SHORT) STORYTIME~!
"Once upon a time, in a kingdom far away, there lived a young peasant girl with a peculiar red velvet, hooded cloak everyone referred to as simply 'Red'. Every weekend, this young girl would arrange a picnic basket with all of her favorite goodies to give to her grandmother who lived in the nearby woods. Red would then travel by foot and happily skip the whole way down the path to her grandmother's as her older brother and head of the household, Peter, would tend to the household work, cutting wood in the backyard and tending to the farm animals. Every trip went the same way, as she would skip over to her house, have a picnic, talk about all the things that were going on in their lives, send condolences from Peter and herself, and walk all the way back home. Yet, it would soon be different.
'One day, while on her usual journey through the wooded area, Red felt a slightly eerie presence following her the whole way but didn't pay too much attention to it. It was not until a bit further down the pathway when a wolf suddenly revealed himself to her. While Red was surprised and admittedly a bit frightened at the sight of the creature, it seemed to not mean any harm to her as the wolf's eyes gazed widely with curiousity into her own. After a few moments of doing nothing but stare intently at each other, he hooded girl then slowly approached him with her hand steadily outstretched as the wolf silently watched her closely. Eventually, her gloved hand gently touched the tips of the wolf's fur on his forehead and rested it upon it. It was all the contact they got before the wolf quickly shied away and disappeared back into the woods. Staring in awe at the place in which the wolf had vanished into, Red contintued the short rest of the journey to her grandmother's house.
'The next weekend followed the last, and each had a short reappearance of the shy wolf. Weeks went by and soon the wolf was no longer following 'Little Red Riding Hood' from behind the comfort of the trees, but by her side as a companion and protector as she made her way through the woods, then waited at the edge of the clearing of her grandmother's house, and then accompanied her all the way back to the beginning of the woods near her home. Red soon also began conversing with the wolf as the wolf grunted, nodded, and sniffed throughout as if he understood her--which she found amusing at times. Sometimes, Red would even mostly skip out on seeing her grandmother all together in order to fill a basket filled with fruits for herself and medium-rare meat for the wolf and stay in the woods with him the whole day, doing nothing but try to communicate with it and ride on its back for a ride through the woods. But, it would soon come to an end...
'One morning, while Red was trying to find enough meat for the wolf, her brother, Peter, came into the kitchen to find the meat in the basket and questioned what it was for. His sister would simply reply that 'it was for their grandmother' and leave quickly with the basket. Feeling suspicious of her reasoning, Peter grabbed his sword just in case and quietly followed Red through the woods until she arrived at the same spot she met the wolf as always. As the wolf comfortably revealed himself from the shadows of the woods, Peter jumped out with his sword at hand in order to strike the beast, but, before he could slice it in half, Red swiftly came between the two and raised her arms in defense of her new friend, crying out for her brother 'not to hurt the poor wolf.' Peter could not understand...could never understand why she would defend such a large beastly creature, and, perhaps, never will..."
