These are the instructions on this small project for Minecraft. I am a personal Skin editor and I wanted to make it easier for others who want to edit their skins with GIMP or Photoshop without the hassle of trying to get Skin Editor to work.

Okay, but I think I've tried it before and it's never worked.
I've asked someone how they did it, and they said they used SkinEdit. Downloaded it, imported my skin, and it still hadn't shown up.

Here it is now. I have a PSD file so I can change outfits whenever it fancies me, but that's the PNG file that I safe it to, so that I can upload it as a skin. You can see the ears there, too.

It could very easily be the white on the background, maybe make it trasparent?

Thank you so much for this! I've been trying to make my own skin, but I've never quite understood it, and I had problems with understanding what part was where, but this is really helpful! Just some questions, though.
You said that the hat layer got two extra pixels on each side, but the template is just as big? Or will it automatically get a little bigger? In the preview it seems as if if that's the case, but I'm wondering if I'm right.

It's automatically larger. It may be two extra pixels, one on each side, which is the case I think.
None the less, come back and check the instructions again later today, I'll have done some rewording.

If you go onto the minecraft fourms you can also find how to reskin everything and how to make texture packs, you can also just find already done texture packs aswell.
There is also this one site called skindex aswell which is all about character skins, for you to post the ones you made or download ones you like.

done the same thing, and there were all kinds of programes as well. You ought to have
seen my face, but allwell, I was one of the first if not the first to do it on deviant art.

Modded, like adding mods to your game, changing it, either adding small things like a mini map, or very large changes, like the aether mod.
A little difficult to understand how to mod at first, but once you get the basics of it down, then nothing is difficult to do.

Well I'll promise you, that the creative private server will get a little on the slow side eventrually (Trust me, I've had my own since Beta 1.5), and if playing it in survival mode honestly just doesn't quite cut it, then you may consider learning to use redstone or mods, or redstone mods. Whatever strikes your fancey. In either case, youtube will suddenly become your best friend. xD
I'm going to make a video of how to install mods, of course I can ever get my computer to work with me. It's always one thing or another when I'm making a video it seems, it actually is having memory problems now... talk about annoying.

I've been meaning to learn how to work with redstone but I've been working on this huge project [making one hell of a castle xD]. I'll definitely get around to it though. :>

Redstone can et really confusing, but you can also look up how to make yourself a gate door for that castle.

i tried this buuuutttt when i got done i sized it down to what i thought ws 64x32 but it wldnt work no matter what i did so i gives ups i foud it helpful tho
