I’m independent
Never needed a man to love
Always soared free
A heart with wings of a dove
Now part of me is in a cage
Against this feeling
Feeble wars I wage
As questions tumble through my head
He looks this way
My face goes red
Where did my hardened spirit go?
Does he like me?
I do not know
I no longer fly
I’ve broken my wings
A faint song of hope
My heart still sings
I leave the world of love once more
But even now I cannot soar
A cage still traps my heart inside
As I fall and run and ride
Through the up and downs of life
Without a cure
For my internal strife
I’ve lost myself
