I was editing this photo around the same time that I was studying for my 19th Century American Literature course. I was looking at these photos, and for some reason Walt Whitman's "Song of Myself" came to mind, just pieces of it mind you.This poem is so intricate. Everything Whitman wrote is. And I have to say that after this semester he has become my favorite poet. "Song of Myself" is so multi-faceted, I'm pretty sure you could draw a quote from it for any situation, whether it be social, political, personal, environmental, historical...
If anyone out there is into poetry, I strongly suggest looking into Whitman, specifically "Song of Myself". I've read that poem at least 25 times, hell I wrote my exam essay entirely on one stanza, and I STILL notice something new every time I read it.

We've just gotten into our unit on Whitman and naturalists and regionalists and that jazz. It's interesting stuff, and I definitely have a deep respect for Whitman's free verse. My favorite of his is, "When I Heard the Learn'd Astronomer", short, sweet and concise.

Did you make/modify the attire yourself? Or purchase different pre-made pieces and put them together. Either way, great costume, your attention to detail is excellent.
Your facial features even have Link's slightly elfin qualities!

Wow o.o well you did an amazing job. How did you make the gauntlets/bandolier?

The gauntlets were fake leathery material sewn together to make simple long gloves. Then i sewed tubes that would become the raised parts of the gauntlet (I'm sorry that my explaining sucks so bad XD) I then glued those into the gauntlet and that was pretty much it!
The bandolier was the same idea, but it was made entirely of "tubes" one long one for the belt part on several smaller ones and one larger one for the sections of the belt.

Personally, I prefer some of Emerson's writings, but I did enjoy Whitman's poems we looked at during English last year. I really love "Song of Myself". This is a very creative idea, I really like it!

Did you make the ocarina and is it playable?? My brother bought one at a Renaissance Fair that was a replica of the game's design. I love that thing. I didn't stop playing it all day until I got down one of the game's songs~

I read a book that involved "Song of Myself" alot, its called Paper Towns by John Green, its a really great book.

If you like that poem you should read Paper Towns by John Green.
The poem is a major plot device, and the themes in the poem are mirrored in the themes of the book.
It's an amazing book.

Oh my, Whitman...I remember that poem. He was fantastic, but a little long winded, even if it was a mock epic. Still enjoyed him

Thoreau? Ugh agreed, I did not particularly enjoy him. "Walden" itself was alright, but I just could not agree with his naturalism. The idea that "everyone has their Walden" was an interesting one though.
