In 2007 and 2008, I wrote, directed and edited an unofficial low-budget feature about one of my favorite comic book characters, the Sensational She-Hulk. This is the screenplay.

Jennifer Walters was a bright, promising young lawyer, trying to take down a Los Angeles mob kingpin. Shot and left for dead, she was saved by an emergency blood transfusion from her cousin, Bruce Banner, The Incredible Hulk.

Now, she's one of earth's mightiest heroes. A member of the Avengers and friend to the Fantastic Four. Smart, funny, and possibly the strongest woman on earth.

She's not your average superhero, and this isn't your average superhero film. For one thing, she's directing it herself ...

In her late 80s/early 90s John Byrne run, She-Hulk was known for breaking the fourth wall, being aware she's in a comic book, and talking to her audience. I tried to capture some of that here while still telling a traditional origin story based on her early-80s adventures.

I planned the film to have a sequel, which would have been based largely on Dan Slott's wonderful run with the character [around 2004], with some John Byrne elements [like "The Blonde Phantom"].

This screenplay isn't that long and I consider it to be only half the story. Here, she learns to accept the She-Hulk part of herself, but isn't comfortable being Jennifer Walters. The sequel would have shown her become comfortable being human, as she takes on Titania.
