This is amazing. You think you could write a tutorial about this?

My technique is a little crazy, maybe once I've fine tuned my style a bit more.

Truth to be told, that's pretty fucking sweet. One thing though, you shouldn't use a sharpening method that adds those "shadows" on the stars. It ruins the depth a bit.

Thanks. Thats true, probably should have just sharpend the nebula. Oh well, lessons learned for next time.

I round brush only? Dude, this looks too real for only a round brush.

Its true. If you haven't seen the rest of my stuff. Nebulaes are one of my strengths.

Oh, I've seen it, and I'm very familiar with your nebulae. But I thought you had borrowed a brush pack from somebody else to help make the clouds themselves.
Perhaps it was somebody else. He specializes in celestial images, too, but his forte lies in large bodies such as planets and gas giants.
You two might wanna' meet up and chat sometime. Maybe work on a coordinated project together. Guy's name is F4lyn. Maybe you've heard of each other?

Yeah I usually use a brush pack from tsarye But this time it was all of my own skill.

Thin threads grouped together and overlaid with semi-transparent larger strokes on a new layer, then blended and erased gently into the backdrop (also painted and blended into a sort of flowy cloud in space), then a new layer dotted all over with stars of varying hues and sizes, and each of the larger ones given their own glow, then...
Wait... So how'd you do the shine on the closest/largest stars? THOSE couldn't have been the round brush alone...
Nice shines, too. Did you use some sort of Starburst combined with a Shine effect, or... what?
I apologize profusely if I'm bogging you with questions. But mind you, not many can draw nebulae. ESPECIALLY not by primarily using ONE tool shape.

I actually start with bigger soft strokes to get the main shape of the nebula, Then I start working down in size with a hard edge brush and smudge tool to further bring out the details. Then I just keep working in smaller and bringing out more deets.
The shines were done with photoshops render flare.

Ah...
And in conclusion, I guess your process works somewhat backwards from mine. X3

IMO, it would have worked better with a darker background: at the moment, the two main color scheme oppose nicely the one onto the other, but the lack of contrast hinders the overall strength of your painting...

This is a good point. It could use a little adjusting.
