Got bored, did some painting, this is the result. Not one of my better ones but I feel like I'm really getting my technique down. Let me know what you think about it.Hand painted in Photoshop, about 7 hours
No textures, photos, or fractals.

Its hard to explain. Basically I draw a bunch of large loose nebula shapes on seperate layers. Then I combine them into one coherent shape, and the start refining the shape and brining out some details.

This is incredible. It reminds me of the horsehead nebula, I think it is called. Colors are soft and well blended. Textures feel like they jump off the page.

The texture of the nebula is gorgeous, and the different colored stars stand out well against the dust clouds in the background. Beautiful, great job!

You were bored when you painted this? Dang. It's really beautiful. I can see how the title - "The Monster Within" - fits this. It's like the nebulae is the "monster" exploding outwards.
