The main battle tank of the Confederate States of America and the Republic of Texas, the M3A2 "Linebacker" is the main tank of most of Europe and North America. Created in a joint effort between the CSA and recently re-independent Texas to replace the M1 Abrams tank due to loses suffered during the of the Second American Civil War and the intervention of the 2019 Russian invasion of Europe, the M3A2 was meant to be a slightly lower cost local design. The Second Russo-European War (2034-2037) saw thousands of Linebackers lent to Europe in a sort of lend-lease program before the Confederates officially got involved on the side of Europe in 2035. The Linebacker is primarily used by the Confederate States of America, Texas, the Republic of the Rio Grande, New England, the California, the West Indies Federation, the Scandinavian Union, the France, Italy, Greece, Czechoslovakia, Romania, Hungary, Britain and the Paris Protectorate, Israel, Lebanon, Southern Africa, and the West African Federation. Quebec, Canada, Croatia, the German-Polish Reich, and the Chinese Federation also field some Linebacker tanks but prefer the use of local designs (or in the case of the Chinese Federation the Linebackers are in too few numbers to make much of a difference; 1,651 Linebackers compared to the roughly 35 million Qilin Tanks field by the Chinese).
