I like this guy mainly because he's one of the first to subvert the Big Bad Wolf stereotype- if not the first, since I imagine one of the Fractured Fairy Tales probably did it first.
A lot of people say he isn't funny, and maybe his cartoons are very mild, but nonetheless he's unusual and a good design.

Yeah, there probably was a Fractured Fairy Tale that had the Wolf trying to be good but kept getting screwed around by others assuming the worst. Of course both cartoons were relatively close given they debuted in 1959.

I've seen the Rocky and Bullwinkle DVDs a couple of times since I wrote the description (for Tumblr), and I do recall one where the wolf has sworn off eating "Red Riding Hoods", but doesn't have an easy time managing it. Not quite the same thing.
I'd have to Google the air dates though...
