Hi! There are two things you need to be aware of to make custom brushes work. When you import an image then only use PNG or GIF file formats (png provides a better quality therefore I would go with that). CSP ignores color differences in your image unlike Photoshop. That's why your image/texture needs a transparent background. I wrote a blog post a while ago about this topic, you can check it out here -> typesprite.tumblr.com/post/113…
Secondly you need to make sure that the option "Mix ground color" in the brush settings is checked. Otherwise your custom brush will only work in black and white. You can open the brush settings when you click an the wrench in the tool property menu and then select "Ink" in the side bar.

Hey, I'm really sorry but these brushes will only work with Manga Studio 5 or Clip Studio Paint... asaik CELSYS (the company behind CSP & MS5) has completely rewritten the software from scratch. Hence MS5/CSP isn't actually the successor of MS4 because they don't share the same code base.
