You chapter bears strong resemblance to Knights of Albion, my old chapter, they tooΒ tend to have a very high-level contact with regular civilians, constantlyΒ actually almost like the Salamanders, some of them are ascendant to the position of the sector lord, even our Serfs get paid

Kindness is a rarity agmonst the Emperor's finest. It is either teasured, or looked down upon.Β

I wonder if these lads will get Primaris

I don't think they are quite that large in comparison but I enjoy the tenderness here.Β

Again, the size and the tenderness of his actions clash so very much. Loving it

I just have to say how amazing it is to see that in panel 2, the Space Marine has learned how to control his powerfist's energy field (at least I think it is). Most Space Marines have trouble getting their arm to stop moving when they swing it, grabbing a object with a Powerfist is more likely to crush it too dust through mere presense of the field than anything else.

aww it never crossed my mind that space marines can be so loving and tender! *sniffs*

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

tyrantwache In reply to nigellus [2008-02-19 12:54:43 +0000 UTC]

Why not?
Space Marines are humans like us, and they are alle individual so they can have different minds and feelings.

nigellus In reply to tyrantwache [2008-03-06 16:58:31 +0000 UTC]

Aye yer right, most people tend to forget that space marines still retain their humanity thanks to the morbid imagery of space marines as unwavering, cold, and calculating servants of the imperium (blame GW for their creepy codex images)

sorry it took a long time for me to respond, my computer was getting fixed.

That may be so, but beyond the imagery there is a certain thing that takes place when you go through military training, even on low levels like basic for the US Military, you kind of find yourself more mature, more serious and steely minded.

Marines are trained unto a point where they are no longer in fact human, and have little humanity in them. They are human in ways, and have some human weaknesses (things that led to the Horus Heresy) but they are more than human in ways that make it impossible for them to see and feel compassion and mercy. It's a mindset that can come on a person when they believe they are better than other people.

Marines are more than people, and are certainly not human, so would it not be appropriate for them to act thusly?

nigellus In reply to herzeleid1995 [2008-12-13 14:59:23 +0000 UTC]

Nice point, so in short your saying that their training they have understood what it is to become truly human....amirite?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

herzeleid1995 In reply to nigellus [2008-12-14 01:57:30 +0000 UTC]

Well I guess inadvertently they do understand the true human mindset once they've left it and become more than human, because they understand that they aren't human any more and can recognize the differences between themselves and humans.

My thoughts are (and what I believe is generally excepted to be true about Astartes) is that they lack human flaws and vices, or at least resist them or fight them or control them to a point beyond human abilities. It is obvious that Astartes can be angry, jealous, vain, and all that jazz, but they fight it to a point where a proper Astartes would never even feel the slightest consideration to betray their vows to their Primarchs and their Emperor unless the powers of Chaos were involved.
