Description Hong Meiling and Marisa Kirisame from Touhou Project game series.

Everybody knows New Year postcards. There are kilotons of them in every market. I wanted to draw something simple but cute as them. I had free evening before departure, so it was decided to draw such a picture. So this is the result. The third picture from 'Meiling series', and the last one in this year. The lack of details is because of the lack of time. But I still hope that you like it.

I think these outfits you give to meiling really suit her well

Possibly she's only person in whole Touhou who can wear it and wouldn't look weird.

Hmm, the walking dead in the rotten uniform? Maybe.
I remembered this picture of Kanako and Suwako wearing the dress of Imperial Japanese Army and Navy respectively: [link] .

The juxtaposition between Meiling being all okay with this and Marisa looking sad is really cute. ^^

Charming pic!

Sounds strange, but I obtained such a mood of this picture accidentaly, without any preliminary planning.
And I'm very glad that you like the result.

The lack of details is actually a very nice look...but just looking at this scene makes me want a hot cup of tea.

Yes, the cup of hot tea is the highest (and only) reward after everyday beating a path through the snow between the home and workplace. ^^

sometimes that's all ya need a cup of tea a nice fire, and somewhere to put ya feet up...cause brother I tell you they would be cold after trudging through that scene

This one really caught my eye when I spied it I love winter scenes. Something about the grays and whites, and all those shades between. If you stop and look and see paste the dreary sky and the white everywhere there are all sorts of very subtle very...interesting shades and hues hidden in a winter sky, and a field of snow.

Okay that's my philosophical, pseudo artsy rant for the day

The grays and whites, yes, the grays and whites...
The relatively high temperature has already corrupted the beautiful sight of the snow. But the skies are still gray, and the winter will not end here within nearest two months. If the circumstances will allow me, I'll draw you some other winter scene before the spring come.

I would very much enjoy another winter scene.

and I do hope you'll do more in this style of coloration and soft details. It is a very good look.

Touhou setting is quite unsystematic, so it's hard to explain the relationship between these two and the dress they wear, but I'll try.

The red-haired girl, Hong Meiling, had Chinese origin. Originally he wore green beret with the golden star with the kanji 'dragon' on it, and green Chinese dress. In order to adapt her dress to the cold season I drew greatcoat and cap of unidentified pattern. USA and European countries supplied National Revolutionary Army of China, and USSR supplied People's Liberation Army. So similar dress could be easily appeared in Meiling's homeland (you didnt think that I'm serious when I tell about such kind of stuff, I hope? ^^).

Girl with golden hair, Marisa Kirisame, is just a girl who want to become a powerful magician. Somehow she thought that dress of western witches could be usable.

Meiling is a gatekeeper of a large mansion, while Marisa sometimes try to steal books or something else from there. So relationships of the girls are uneasy. By the fact that one of them carry another on the back (maybe little witch had her leg injured and broom broken, or something like that) I tried to say something about the kindness and compassion to the fallen foe... Balderdash. I drew them accidentally, and I never try to put any morale into the pictures. ^^'

Yay!
Here, in Russia, we didn't celebrate Christmas on the 25th of November. We celebrate New Year with the same scope instead. That's the reason why I am 'late' with such a picture.
