Description
Inspired by the swamp thing this version incorporates the Balete Tree. A tree that would scare the hell out of me when I was younger coz I was told that the White Lady ghost lived there.I am just missing the white lady in this piece

what is strange is that I like this balete inspired creature.
I mean I don't want to cuddle up to it, but I would be willing to feed it dead rabbits and take it for walks

You Definitely should!
take a bunch of branch and root references , draw a shape of your creature in black.. group the photos into the black mask. And arrange them until you got something you like, then decide where you want your one light source. Model your photos using screen(light) and multiply(dark) or color dodge ( can get more complicated than this, but I am just trying to explain this the simplest way..maybe I will do a tutorial sometime, if people want to see one).

thanks man.. but its just a combination of painting and painting with photo-textures so not much rendering aside from making all the textures work I guess, but thanks for the complement

Well I think that's the thing; it's hard to find people that use photo textures correctly. I still can't. It always ends up looking tacky lol. Anways thanks for the inspiration and keep it up

I look at very few "scary" things and think they're scary. This dude is scary looking. If I met him, my heart would explode with fear. I've been in the middle of 2 banyan's (balete's as you know them) that grew into 1 tree in a Chinese cemetary on Oahu. I'm familiar with the White Lady. I'm not getting anywhere near as close to this guy though. Awesome work.

I really love the design of this! Swamp thing was awesome but this just made it even better, I could actually picture this thing sneaking up on you in a foggy atmosphere and then munching on your skull with those barbed tentacles around it's mouth. Really great work
