Description
Line Art: Chris StevensColors: Kevin Yan
Double-wide half page illo from Dungeon Magazine #146.
From the art notes:
This large underground room is lit by an unpleasant green glow coming from a pool of green sludge and slime. This pool is shaped like a half circle protruding from a stone wall, and is surrounded by a low stone rim. In the middle of the pool is a stone slab that protrudes a few inches above the surface of the glowing slime. Clambering onto this slab from the slimy water is an immense, obese man. He’s about 12 feet tall and nearly as wide, wearing a tattered suit of leather armor that’s FAR too small and is bursting at the seams with his ungainly bulk and flab. Two slimy tentacles, each 10 feet long, protrude from the crook of shoulder and neck to either side of his head to writhe in the air around him. He has no eyes, just skin where eyes should be on his face. His mouth is wider than it should be, and twisted in a creepy grin. In one hand he wields a wide-bladed hooked dagger that almost looks like a meat cleaver. Green slime weeps from his skin to drip into the pool around him. Moss and mold grow thick on the stone floor and walls and hang from the ceiling in places like soggy cobwebs.
Human cultists are arrayed around the edge of the pool. They wear black hooded robes and are worshiping the fat monster in the pool. If we can see any of the cultists’ faces, we might see that they’ve got green drool dripping from their slack lips.
We see the iconic rogue and iconic sorcerer preparing to enter the room. The sorcerer is motioning for the cleric to be quiet, but the cleric looks angry at the cultists and is about to charge in and brain them with her morningstar.

Yecch! Wonderfully disgusting characters, and the shading and details are great. The composition an lighting also work very well to make this feel like a real space.

Impressive! Is that real ink, or digital? do you give it a color value to blend with the background? or do you paint over the line?

Thank you so much for showing the step-by-step process of this piece of art. I believe such steps are a great help for little, tiny, untalented people like myself.

The UdonCrew is really a awsome force of art, though I'm afraid this one has let me down. I think it was for the lack of effort on drawing the faces, wich have absolutely no perspective to them. It's like the side shot of the mug-shots... or sumthin. Now, I know my oppinion is worth just about zap-nuthin, but I just wanted to say that. Love the usual work though. Cya.
PS: I, personally, could never dream of doing something even remoting as good as this piece.
PS: My english sux? Fazer o quê? =]

Recently, you've been submitting several stages of the art, as opposed to submitting just the finished product. I can not thank you enough. Please, please, please keep submitting them this way. It is so infomitave to be able to see several stages of how the pieces are created. So much so that I'm going to say THANK YOU again.
